Sorry perhaps I wasn't clear, what i was trying to say was that although Khan has been coming in at around 138lb if he needed to make 135 for a title fight he could do it. i understand fully why he has not been doing that so far.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Yes but why boil down and starve yourself for none title fights?J-C wrote:If what they said on ITV is true and Kahn walks around at 142lbs, then you would think he could easily boildown to make 135lbs.
I can see why Khan...

Yes he could and should make 135 allot of prospects do what hes doing - fight just above the weight in none-title fights. Who knows maybe he could even drain to 130 if he used some diuretics and didn't eat for a good few days. Delahoya was probably bigger than Amir when he fought at 135 and his 2 fights at 130J-C wrote:Sorry perhaps I wasn't clear, what i was trying to say was that although Khan has been coming in at around 138lb if he needed to make 135 for a title fight he could do it. i understand fully why he has not been doing that so far.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Yes but why boil down and starve yourself for none title fights?J-C wrote:If what they said on ITV is true and Kahn walks around at 142lbs, then you would think he could easily boildown to make 135lbs.

I would have thought that if Khan's walking around weight is 142ish then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could make 130 for a couple of years. He may well be a natural lightweight, but most fighters are 'naturally' at least one weight heavier than that which they fight at (2 or 3 in the case of JLC).

He was very amateurish and sloppy. So what if it was only his 10th fight, he's getting paid handsomely, is the golden boy of British boxing and a silver medal winning Olympian and being tipped as the next big thing so when you fight like he did on Saturday you should be judged accordingly.
Good points - he's fit as a butchers, didn't really run out of gas and through lots of punches and won most rounds and that was no knockdown.
Bad points - the guy he was boxing had never knocked no-one out and despite what they were saying about him having boxed at welter, Khan didn't look any smaller whatsoever.
Amir's a sucker for a right hand and a good, solid pro with strength would be looking to block or take those little flurries and then - crack - over the top with a right hand... somewhere along the line he's going to catch him.
Inconsistent - fighter, boxer, both or not sure quite what to do. I'd advise Khan to watch some Oscar de la Hoya tapes. He's got all that energy and athleticism, but he's wasting it with all that movement (which wasn't as bad on Saturday).
He always retreats on a straight line... no staying in range and stepping to the side to create a new angle of attack...
Being down on the lad I know, but I think he's got bundles of talent and it's not coming to the fore if you ask me. Okay beating up on smaller super feather's but for someone who says he wants to be world champ by the time he's 21... not a chance... I'd steer well clear of someone who can crack like Jon Thaxton.
Much work to be done Oliver Harrison and the Khan team and the man himself... a whole load of fine-tuning to be done... because if that lad had been able to crack on Saturday I think Khan could have been embarrassed, and that would be a shame because he's a fantastic athlete.

I think Fenech was far more of a born fighter though. The guy technically wasn't brilliant, but he had a style which worked.
There's so much work to do with Khan, when the throws those flurries, he's absolutely wide open for straight shots or the uppercut, a good puncher with timing would take his head off.
His shots had little effect on the Frenchman, I think because Khan's balance isn't good, he's always skittering around when he throws those shots. Khan needs to learn to sit in the pocket and use his guard as well as his legs to defend himself.
Stilll, good learning fight, he will have put his own punch power in perspective hopefully, and he knows now there are plenty of guys out there who will hit him repeatedly, and a lot of them hit harder than his opponent on this occasion.

The reason Khan is being protected is obvious by watching his fights. And maybe some of us would like him/wouldn't mind shit performances if he didn't claim he was "5 fights from a world title". Can anybody see Joel Casamayor geeting outboxed or outpunched by Amir Khan? I dont frickin think so.
Another Khan classic- he got tagged repeatedly by a guy with zero knockouts: "i proved i can take a punch" (!!)
Haha.

dirt sugars post is right.
his faults are there for all to see but he is still a very aggresive exciting fighter. i'd advise him to stay at lightweight his arms didnt look genuinely
powerful from the back (in fact they appeared almost skinny).
i have to stick with him for the time being, the hype i dont listen to as its only hype. but we do have a lad who can challenge if he is brought along correctly (should have stayed am for one more year).

Come on Emma...when was the last time Amir fought at 135 as a pro?emma wrote:If Im honest I thought Amir would've got him out of there BUT that guy was a geniune Light-welter where as Amirs a lightweight.
Hes in his tenth fight he should of sorted out his flaws by now. Either Harrison isnt doing his job right or Khan refuses to listen.
Everyone here knows you don’t like Khan and that is why you saying rubbish stuff. Pretty obvious.emma wrote:If Im honest I thought Amir would've got him out of there BUT that guy was a geniune Light-welter where as Amirs a lightweight.

Khan do listen his trainer and I can tell his skill has been improved. I like his skill.. Khan doesn’t want to knock him. As soon Khan hit him, he moves back!
No idea I dont read his record but he is listed as a lightweight.Mattyp151 wrote:Come on Emma...when was the last time Amir fought at 135 as a pro?emma wrote:If Im honest I thought Amir would've got him out of there BUT that guy was a geniune Light-welter where as Amirs a lightweight.

Khan should be fighting at 135, just because he's fighting over the weight, that doesn't mean much. He is tall and rangy, but he doesn't have the build of a natural light welterweight, at least not in today's boxing climate where fighters are entering the ring at 155 and fighting at 140. Can you imagine the disparity if we saw Khan standing next to Hatton in the ring?
He has never fought under 135 in his pro career. He's not a lightweight.emma wrote:No idea I dont read his record but he is listed as a lightweight.Mattyp151 wrote:Come on Emma...when was the last time Amir fought at 135 as a pro?emma wrote:If Im honest I thought Amir would've got him out of there BUT that guy was a geniune Light-welter where as Amirs a lightweight.

To be honest I dont care what weight he is. But hes registered as a lightweight on the BBN site.Mattyp151 wrote:He has never fought under 135 in his pro career. If we're judging Khan as just a 20 yearold prospect then you can say after 10 fights that he's doing ok and fair enough has a long way to go and a lot to learn, etc... but the fact is we are constantly being told what a superb talent he is and how he's just a step away from a workd title and talk of doing 4 rounds with Mayweather etc... and he's not living up to that hype because for such a talented guy he's still being babied as a pro, and worryingly still showing the same faults that he showed when he first turned pro... I've no doubt he'll be manuvoured into a WBU title in the next 18 months is that a true world title?... nope... he needs to change direction if he's to win a genuine world title as with the faws he has now the top guys would murder him at the moment...

You don't care what weight he is????? Yet your original post rests the majority of its meaning on Amir's weight?
Just admit you're wrong, there's no shame.... the only shame is when people can't take a contructive point against their argument.
Happy Christmas
He could be registered at flyweight, but he has still never fought below 135 in his life, and he has never gotten above 140 to my knowledge. To me, and 99% of the boxing world, right now, he is a light welterweight.emma wrote:To be honest I dont care what weight he is.
