Floyd Patterson and Ernest "Tony" Anthony were born about a month apart, and turned pro a couple of months apart in 1952 after both being National AAU champions in 1952, Patterson at 165 lbs. and Anthony at 156 lbs. They were also both New York Golden Gloves champions in both 1951 and 1952.
Patterson and Anthony must have known each other. I wonder if they were friends.
Patterson was a gold medal winner in the 1952 olympics at 165 lbs. (middleweight). I wonder why Anthony didn't represent the U.S. in the 156 lb division (light middleweight)? Did he get eliminated in the olympic trials? Did he simply not go out for the olympic team? Anyone know what happened?
BTW, both Patterson and Anthony later fought Archie Moore for world titles, Patterson for the heavyweight championship in 1956, and Anthony for the lightheavyweight championship in 1957.

Maybe a better question would be: Where can I find the results of the Olympic Trials going back to 1952?
I think that Spider Webb represented the United States in the 1952 Olympics in the 156 lb. division (Light Middleweight). Ernest "Tony" Anthony won the National AAU title in 1952 in the 156 lb. (light middleweight) division. Maybe Anthony lost to Webb in the Olympic Trials.
