I totally agree with jab-seltz, there are far more important things on Darren's mind at the moment.

It's very unlikely the result will be changed as in Britain we have 'The referee's decision is final' concept, the same as we have no rules for accidental butts ending contests, a win is a win as far as the board go.

So I can't see this result being changed. The only one likely to face any action is the ref who will probably have to explain his decision to the board.

Yes, the rule regarding accidental butts is plainly ridiculous, it's almost encouraging a fighter to go boring in there with the head down in the hope of busting the other fighter up.

The difference is that regarding the accidental headbutts is that there are no rules is the "rule". As things currently stand, if a fight is stopped on a accidental headclash the guy with the cut loses.... silly rule, but thats it. If a ref takes it too the score cards, then he would be (I imagine) called up by the BBBoC for breaking guidelines.

However, one of the rules said ahead of most fights (depending on the ref) is "obey my instructions"..... Barker technically didn't. Plus the fact that Paris didn't have time to wipe down the gloves. What happens if there was some debris on the canvas - could have been nasty (not that I have ever seen the end consquence, but to wipe down the gloves is part of the routine).

I do feel bad bringing up this thread again at such a bad time for Darren, but you've got to feel for Samuels - first fight back and everything.
