Kessler ready to give Beyer a rematch

Post by Max Molyneux »

Translated from Danish site.

http://politiken.dk/sport/article213831.ece

"short translation: Beyer wishes to continue fighting. wants calzaghe or a rematch with Kessler.
Kessler hell yeah! everybody deserves a chance, If I was in his shoes I would want a second shot so yes."

Palle says no way though.

Has anyone read the Kessler article in Boxing Monthly too?

Kessler thinks he easily beat Mundine and mentioned that one of the judges gave him every round yet that was booed.

Even less worthy of a rematch than Calzaghe/Lacy.

Least Calzaghe joked and said he didn't want to be arrested for fighting Lacy again. :TU:

Who cares anyway, Kessler's facing a REAL mandatory in Andrade.

How many did Calzaghe fight, was it one or two over his 9 year reign?

You mean the one that sold 350K PPV?

Funny that you weren't singing the same tune beforehand eh.

Fair enough had Morales not had a win over Pacquiao in the first fight, 2nd fight was competitive...nothing wrong with a rubber match. You let your dislike of Bob Arum cloud your judgement. If Pacquiao was Mexican you would be all over him like a rash.

Beyer talking about a comeback and "taking the WBO title from Calzaghe" is completely taking the piss, just like he did in his unification fight with Kessler - what a non performance that was.

If he'd at least tried to get up, or win, people might have a bit more time for him.

Beyer (literally) has nothing to lose now. If he can wangle himself another big payday then good luck to him, but I refuse to believe his doing anything more than cheque hunting.

Kessler threw about 4 differnet punches at Beyer, straight lefts and rights, about 4 left hooks, and 1 uppercut to the body...and he didn't miss much. Beyer's biggest asset was being slick, which he clearly isn't anymore, and he is bigtime looking for a final payday.

This is a bullshit fight, and if it happens, then both men are taking the piss. Beyer had the opportunity to make a fist of it, and he didn't, I hope this doesn't happen, because in reality, who the hell wants to see it?

I wouldn't blame Kessler if he got a big purse to go to Germany, he eanrned it by taking the short end to get the fight in Denmark.

Kessler fans would be contradicting themselves though if they criticised Calzaghe though. :TU:

Sakio Bika isn't a champ and came to Calzaghe and it took place in the UK...going to Germany as champ isn't the same thing.

Is this possibly the worst potential rematch ever?

Rematches where the loser is knocked out and comes back to win the return are as rare as hens teeth. Factor in the fact that Beyer has looked recently as if he has very little left to offer indeed, and you've got an awful match on your hands.

Kessler should be moving on to bigger and better things. If this happens, it's a total waste of the champions time.

Isn't Mikkel Kessler's mother English???? Which makes him the number 2 super-middle in Britain, Europe and the world........

I'm a little surprised at some of the comments here. Yes, I don't want to see this fight again. However, I do disagree that Beyer threw or was simply fighting Kessler for the money.

Nobody said that about Lacy? Kessler hit Beyer with such a peach of a shot it lifted him of his feet. He was completely out of it. Kessler was brilliant.

Beyer has also mentioned a clash with Calzaghe or any other possible way of getting a world title. Isn't he entiled to comeback? I do think he is finished.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see the rematch - but some posts here don't seem to be giving Kessler's final punch or Beyer's effort the credit to deserve. He didn't go there to lie down IMO, Kessler was simply brilliant.

Kessler has been very open about how a Beyer body shot nearly put him down.

I don't recall Beyer being 'out of it'! He just just decided he'd had enough after the KD.

He's a damn good actor then. IMO he was completely f'd. There has been more people moaning about this KO the Steve Molitor vs Hunter. For me, with Hunter's was far more obvious that he'd had enough - yet only one poster was brave enough to suggest that it was a bit of a quit job after the fight. Beyer DID try and beat count, but was out of it. His eyes were in orbit, you cannot act that.

Even if his finances are bad, and I haven't read reports of them being so - surely he hasn't blown the big money he earned in Denmark already.

It was a good KD, but Beyer sat on his arse looking over at his corner for the 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, out. He only made an effort to get up after the ref had waved it over.

??? Has Calzaghe ever fought Beyer?

I doubt though that Kessler could get a big purse in Germany -- Beyer has never been the draw there that Maske, Michalczevski or Ottke have been, and is certainly even less so now.

Beyer hit awful weird, like his back was arched in a pretty odd angle, and I truly think he didn't know where he was until 6. At that point, you got 4 to get on your feet, which won't happen. Had he gotten up, he wouldn't have made it much out of 4.

I'll agree to disagree, yes he was sitting up, but he didn't look "with it". He wasn't shaking his head at the corner with clear eyes (like Hunter). He just seemed like it was instinct to get to a sitting position cause he looked out of it all the way through.

A bit of a pitty the TV cameras cut to a delighted Kessler after the count, I would have liked to have seen how Beyer walked to his corner. When I saw the KO on ITV, my immediate reaction was "peach".

Imo Beyer quit in that fight...but it can be said that Kessler made him quit.

The KD was legit, but Beyer would have been up before the count reached 4, if, say, his purse was on the line. Not that he would have even won a round after that.
