Mayorga/Margarito

Post by HOGBEAR »

Why'd they switch positions? Neither has fought lately, and if I'm not mistaken, Mayorga overtook Margarito as the No. 1 welterweight after the second Forrest fight.

I don't really care, I'm just wondering how the boxrec system allows a guy to seize the No. 1 spot by sitting on his ass.

They are in a virtual tie at 1866 points each. The BoxRec ratings are based on every single bout in the database, back to the oldest bout in the database.

What happened is that the old data that was entered yesterday, favored Margarito. They will probably continually switch until they fight again, or someone enters a record that more directly affects one fighter over the other. Then maybe one fighter will get some seperation in the point totals.

This happened before with Veeraphol Sahaprom and Tim Austin at Bantam, until Sahaprom fought a draw.
