Kessler fans would be contradicting themselves though if they criticised Calzaghe though. :TU:
Sakio Bika isn't a champ and came to Calzaghe and it took place in the UK...going to Germany as champ isn't the same thing.
Doesn't make no difference, Calzaghe's not giving Bika a rematch is he or Lacy for that matter. He even joked about being arrested if he fought Lacy again.
??? Has Calzaghe ever fought Beyer?

I doubt though that Kessler could get a big purse in Germany -- Beyer has never been the draw there that Maske, Michalczevski or Ottke have been, and is certainly even less so now.
Broken record like again. Why should Calzaghe have to give up a bigger share of the purse when he did it for Lacy? Plus Beyer's not bothered about retiring now and changed his mind!

Yes, there's no dressing this up, if this fight happens, it's absolute bullshit. Maybe Beyer didn't prepare properly for his first fight, or god knows what, but I cannot see any other reason for this rematch than money.

Ok, Calzaghe fought Veit twice, which is even worse, but two wrongs don't make a right do they?

But Veit was mandatory and I do believe the fight even went to purse bids. Wouldn't Beyer be an optional for Kessler?

I'd have thought Calzaghe v Veit II is the worst/most needless rematch on record, though Liston v Patterson is close....

I wouldn't be surprised if Calzaghe faces Beyer in the future.

Beyer put in a complete non effort in the fight IMO. I watched the fight with my friend ( a non-boxing fan), and he found it hard to believe that this was two champions facing off.

It was a good KD scored by Kessler, but i've got to agree with the posters that said Beyer wanted out, its just the way it looked to me.

Kesslers promoter, Bettina Palle, is saying that this fight is never going to happen.
I think Kessler's next fight is against Librado Andrade.

And beyer... He's done, he should just retire.

Losing to Kessler doesn't mean you're done.

In my book Beyer is still a top 5 or 6 super-middleweight, so why shouldn't he try to get another couple of good fights. His problem is that he's never been a big draw, however, not even in Germany. With no title and no money to offer, he'll have to accept other fighters' terms.

I'd pick almost every Ring Top 10 SMW to beat Beyer fight now, he's done.

Well it's actually an interesting match........I mean Beyer is shot and chinny but Lacy is shot and can't deal with southpaws.... I would actually be interested in this match

By the time Lacy is back in action, Beyer would have probably already been KO'd again by someone like Froch.

Beyer is only fighting now for the few remaining paydays he may have left.

Can't see it happening, seems Palle isn't interested anyway, if it is made this rematch is indefensible a total none event. Still no way Beyer threw the first fight, i agree with Stu he was out of it.

I bet you give Beyer credit because he's a Kessler victum. Most Kessler fans try to justify Siaca as underrated, just so they can hype up Kessler's win over Mundine.

Lacy is shot how exactly? He fought 8 rounds with a torn rotator cuff in his last fight.

:o :o :o :o :o

He sucks balls though. Took him 12 rounds to catch Colajanni, his promoters screwed green the first time and he refused to get up against Kessler and took the pay.

Exactly Lacy, is tough and to fight 8 rounds with a torn rotator cuff shows heart. People were saying Calzaghe done him in was the excuse!

Or that he was overated too but they were the ones overrating him.

Those are many of the excuses for Lacy I've read.

Strange arguments. Beyer was never a KO puncher, so why should this be held against him.

Disagree totally. Green headbutted brutally and intentionally and got rightly disqualified.
and he refused to get up against Kessler and took the pay.
I saw a very confused Beyer sitting on the ring floor who didn't know where he was or what he should do. Clean legit KO by Kessler who, in contrast to Calzaghe, has real one-punch knockout power.

Lacy is shot how exactly? He fought 8 rounds with a torn rotator cuff in his last fight.

Yeah, Lacy's last fight doesn't say much either way.
But his fights with Vanderpool or Sheika said a lot about his limitations.

Cheers,
P

Colajanni was a BS defence against an Italian Level fighter thats why.

Ref was bullied into Disqualifying Green.

Confused, he was sitting down without wobbling like he was watching TV.

As for Lacy you made jokes on how Calzaghe will duck him.

Yshould have learned enough about boxing by now to know that his is idiotic. The ref had absolutely no choice but to disqualify Green.

To wobble you need to stand on your legs.

Admittedly. But I called the fight correctly.

Took him long enough to disqualify him. You know it was a punch that caused that.

Nah, he could of beat the count.

You just can't face it but you put them down as good fighters because they fought Kessler. :TU:

Green was stupid imo and deserved to be disqualified, he was winning the fight and goes and lauches a headbutt at Beyer. Beyer won the rematch (yes Green fought the wrong fight totally) but fair play to Beyer for taking it against someone who kicked his arse. I felt the knockout win for Kessler was fine, great punch, connected perfectly, Kessler couldn't continue. Hardly Micheal Hunter like was it?

The only way to settle all these arguement is if they actually fight each other and the person who seems to be rubbishing this idea is Calzaghe.

Colajanni was a crap defence, on a par with perhaps 9 of Calzaghe's title defences. However, you can't hold it against Beyer for not KOing him. Colajanni is a lanky bloke who ran, ran and ran some more. The stoppage was a pity / outclassed stoppage.

No worst than Hopkins taking so long with Hakkar.

As to this Kessler-Beyer II. The question is redundant. FIRST, hasn't Kessler called out Calzaghe enough? SECOND, his mandatory is in 2 or 3 months, against the massive, heavy hitting & deceptively skilled Andrade.

The # of responses would make you think that ppl want to gloat. But the fight won't happen, give that even Kessler's promoters have said so.

You love to talk up these fighters don't you.

His skills must be deceptive, as he has very little amatuer experience, and it shows. He will be a standing target with almost no defence and head movement, but he will be aggressive for a few rounds with his size.

I have no agenda. I am a fan of Andrade - I used to believe the doubters until I checked him out properly. I like what I see with Andrade, as much as i'm into Bute and Pavlik. They're all promising and I do talk these guys up.

I actually believe that kessler is facing a legit threat. Andrade hits hard, is big for his weight, and applies some intelligent pressure. He might not be the fastest in the world, but I think you'll find that Kessler-Andrade is classed as a quality world title matchup.

IMO there's a prejudice against Mexicans above light welterweight
