Haye makes offer to Enzo....

Post by yiddo14 »

Did anyone else see last fridays boxing news?
Maloney took out a whole page to issue a challenge to Enzo to fight Haye early 2007.
The offer includes £150,000 and states that no belts have to be on the line.

Suprised nobody has mentioned it considering it's a fight the British boxing public want.

I hope that's true.

Why is Haye not seeking a fight with Bell then?
That guy should get stripped.

yeah I saw it. I saw it after allegedly rejected the idea (probably on wankwarren.tv). There is a disagreement. Warren thinks Enzo deserves 3x as much for being the champion. Haye says Enzo's a paper champ who won the vacant belt vs a man he already beat.

I'm with Haye. My guess: Enzo's next 4 opponents are well below world class. Whereas Haye is going after Bell or Mormeck

Haye will not get a fight with Bell or Mormeck for a good while yet hence chasing this fight. I'd love to see this happen but I can't see it going ahead.

That is funny as fuk and tells you everything you need to know about the opportunist Fwank Warren.

Knowing that Haye is WBC no.1 contender, Fwank and Enzo obviously thought they could make Haye look the kunt by calling him out in the knowledge that with such a huge fight already on his horizon, Haye would almost certainly decline their offer.

But fair play to Haye, he has stepped up and fuk me for sure Fwank has stepped back down!

Good work Mr Haye!

This is one of the things that's wrong with boxing. When you look at the history of memorable cruiserweight fights in Britain, there have been some massive thrills since around 1995. Haye-Macca is potentially the best of them all, as both men have power and heart.

Will Macca's opposition even be as good as the Euros Haye has been beating (Gurov, Fragomeni)?

Fair play to Haye, he doesn't need Enzo at all at this stage, he's close to a title shot and would perhaps be advised to sidestep this bout.

Whatever questions there have been about Haye in the past, he's certainly not ducking anyone, because Enzo is the most dangerous domestic fight out there.

I missed boxing news last week, forgot to buy it, but let's see how much noise Warren and Enzo make now eh?

David Haye and British fight fans await Maccarinelli response

19.12.06 - The biggest and most exciting match-up in the world cruiserweight division could and should still happen, despite an air of sudden uncertainty on the part of promoter allegedly. The prospect of a clash between fan favourites David Haye – European champion and WBC no.2 ranked contender – and Welshman Enzo Maccarinelli – WBO belt holder – appears too good to pass up. Yet, despite going public with a £150,000 offer to Maccarinelli and promoter Warren, Frank Maloney and Haye’s manager and trainer Adam Booth are yet to hear anything back in return..

”Frank Maloney (promoter) has offered £150,000 to get the ball rolling on this fight,” explained Booth, who also had a mock-up poster of Haye-Maccarinelli published in the December 15 issue of Boxing News.

”We’re looking at doing a no strings and no titles attached 12-rounder for April. It is a fight everyone in Britain, and, now, given the rankings and reputations both fighters are gaining, the world will want to see. Ask the fans - titles are not necessary, but the fight is.”

In recent months Warren has claimed that attempts to make the fight were made by him, but that Haye and Booth just as quickly shot them down. Warren has even claimed that, “Maccarinelli beats him (Haye) every day of the week - in fact, I've never been so confident that one of my fighters would win a fight.”

Confidence indeed. Yet Warren’s words may appear empty should his recent silence continue.

“We (Haye, Booth and Maloney) all want the fight to be made for April,” continues Booth. “It’s a fight that needs to happen, and it is a contest that is as big as it gets at cruiserweight now.

“We’re confident it can be made, and that David would win, and it seems Warren is just as confident in his man. He’s even stated he’ll pack it in (his job as promoter) should Maccarinelli lose.”

Maccarinelli, similarly, appears to be nothing but bullish when confronted with the idea of a Haye clash. The Swansea fighter issued a challenge to Haye to stop “messing about with weak opponents” and fight him, immediately after Haye’s career-best, and widely-acclaimed win over WBC no. 3 ranked Giacobbe Fragomeni in November.

“I’m not sure whether it is Warren or Maccarinelli who are shying away from the fight,” Booth adds. “It must be one of them, though, otherwise this fight would be put in motion quicker. If you read quotes from both camps it appears the fight is a natural, and is there to be made. So why isn’t it happening? We’ve revealed our hand, and now it’s time for them to reveal theirs. We are waiting, and hoping, that this brilliant match-up can be made.”
This fight has to get made, its a beauty.

How much???
Both should get the same money IMO very similar standings in the division.

Date of fight??
ASAP March, April, May

Who promotes???
This is the most likely stumbling block IMO, even though I'm a Haye fan I'd like FW to promote this, so that it goes out on ITV, its a great fight for the casual fans especially and should be seen by the masses. This fight ill be great for British boxing IMO. Joint-promo going out on ITV would be ideal, but joint promotions are mythical beasts, that get talked about, but nobody has seen one

The location will be determined by who promotes the fight IMO.

Haye wins early IMO, but it all depends on who lands first.

Please make this happen Maloney and Warren :TU:

Hmm yes, this could be tricky to arrange, I don't know that Warren and Maloney are on the best of terms now. I cannot see Warren allowing the Maloney's a hand in the promotion, and he's going to want to dictate terms for sure.

I've a feeling this won't happen, because the parties won't be able to come to an agreement.

I wonder who actually sells more tickets, I would suspect Enzo is more of a ticket Seller than Haye, who I don't think has a particularly large fanbase.

Haye's better off getting the WBC crown - which he is capable of doing - and if successful he can laugh at Macca's WBO defences

I can't see Haye beating Mormeck or Bell to be honest. They're a whole different ballgame to the guys he has been facing.

Enzo would stop Haye. Haye is all mouth. Lets face it he struggled to beat non puncher euro level at best Fragomeni. Haye knows that he is no where near a shot a the WBC crown - not next year anyway.

Whatever, this fight wont happen. Taking out a full page advert is typical haye/maloney shite. Enzo is important to warren coz of calzage so hes not gonna risk him unless he has options on haye which wont happen.

Has Enzo ever fought anyone at euro level though, let alone beat anyone at that level?
Haye is the better boxer, and hits just as hard as Enzo,so I would favour Haye if they ever fought. Both have questionable chins(although with Haye it's stamina problems more so)

I dont think you can question enzos chin now. Bruce Scott put him down with a peach and he got up and won. Hobson hit him with everything but the kitchen sink and he didnt fold (first fight obviously) and Hobson can bang. He came through a bad patch against Dominguez who was world class in his time (yes, along time ago) but he was a respectable puncher. Haye has more ability, but better all round boxer - I dont think so.

We shall see.
Let's hope Enzo steps upto the plate and accepts the challenge.
That will tell us how confident he and his promoter are,and whether all the talk of fighting Haye was anything but bullshit.

Enzo has a lot to prove.
He has a paper title through beating a host of domestic level opponents(apart from the mighty Swaby of course)and a few washed up oldies.

good question - I'd say Abdoul is Euro level, and Dominguez an ex WBC champ who went the distance with Valuev. Probably Hobson is capable of EBU level.

The best fighter in Europe is undoubtedly Vadim Tokarev. His 4 round war victory over Felix Cora Jr is a rollicking fight. Not seen Wolardasick yet, so i don't know whether he deserved to beat Cunningham

If this fight doesn't come off now after everything Warren has said then it's BS.

I doubt Macca has made £150K yet, though he probably soon will now that he's champion and has the exposure.

These guys, (Warren and Maloney) need to drop their egos, negotiate, and get this fight made for British boxing.

I recently caught up with Enzo at his Gym he was really cool, definetly not a Primma Donna like Haye. Both are heavy handed and it could end at any point but i'm not sure Haye would fancy getting into the trenches with Enzo.

Think Haye should be a little bit more patient. For me, £150,000 doesn't seem like alot of money for a potential unification match.

I think this is a potentially million pound fight. I think should Haye LOSE to Bell, then maybe the £150,000 deal could be considered.

Even though we are gutted that Witter and Hatton hadn't fought, if they do now - look how much more cash is on the table. This is just potentially one fight away from being a massive even global fight. It will be a big domestic dust up, even if Haye is unsuccessful. Then I think the figures Haye is one about is roughly correct.

How much money do we reckon is on the table for this fight? And is £150k good pay or not for this fight? How much does Haye make a fight?

Bell is chinny too and more a fighter who wins on heart and determination. Also has a heavy dig. One dimensional and has had controversial decisions against guys not as good as Haye.

Mormeck keeps a tight guard and roughs fighters up with his strength and throws heavy shots and his chin is better than Haye's and Bell's. Bit one dimensional too.

I give Haye a easier chance against Bell.

Bell can be dropped but he is really tough, I can't see Haye winning a fight in the trenches with him.
