JERMAIN TAYLOR- DOMINANT MIDDLEWEIGHT?

Dont you think its too early for JT to be moving up to super-middle and calling out Calzaghe as if he's a;ready cleared out the division?

Dont two guys called Edison Miranda and Srthur Abraham exist? Two exciting hard bastard punchers who can fight tooth & nail. Why has JT shown no inclination to fight either or even mentiont heir names? These two pose more threat than Joppy, Hopkins or Winky. Why fight someone called Kassim Ouma when Miranda was available..?

Also Eastman might yet slither his way back into the mix. Am i the only one who feels kind of ripped off by Taylor already trying to escape the middles?

Kind of like Calzaghe pretending Kessler doesn't exist and looking for the champ from the division below him or an ageing war horse from the light-heavies.

Depends, I think making 160 is not doing Taylor's stamina any favours. I think he'd be much stronger at 168. He seems to be staying at 160 though according to what he said after the Ouma fight.

I don't have a problem with him moving up. He kind of inherited the dominant Middleweight mantle from Hopkins by 'beating' him twice so I suppose the defences against Wright and Ouma have established him and he deserves to be able to move on up proclaimed as the undisputed Middleweight king IMO.

Miranda an Abraham whilst decent enough fighters wouldn't exactly be given much chance against Taylor would they? And Eastman? You think Taylor should stick around for that?!!!!

In a way I don't blame Taylor, for not being dominant. He has a deeper pool of contenders than Hopkins and Hagler did.

Taylor is more in the position of McCallum or Toney. There are fighters out there that will run him close or come close to beating him. McCallum, Toney, Nunn, Kalambay, Benn, Eubank, Barkley, Reggie Johnson, John David Jackson, that was a top era.

I think Sturm will mature into a fine boxer after his disaster vs Castillejo. Carrera seems promising & from what I read he deserved to stop Castillejo. Pavlik is a big bastard with good infighting and practically decapitated Leonard Pierre. Abraham showed some nifty counter punching to survive a broken jaw and Miranda. & of course Miranda can hurt anyone he hits. Not forgetting Winky, the toughest assignment possibly. Even Castillejo, he has to go down as a Jorge Castro type danger man based on a couple of steamrolling victories...

I felt ripped off with Taylor thinking , 'Ouma then More then super middle' -definitely because there are middles that can give him a very hard time

I'd love to see Taylor stick around at middle for another year at the very least, but if he's really struggling with the weight then a move up is more than understandable. Why stay at middle when it's costing you both stamina and strength?

If he does move up then it's a little hard to criticise someone who's taken on Hopkins (twice), Wright, and then Ouma in his last four fights. But if he stays then I'm sure we will see him take on some of the decent contenders out there. He's not one for ducking a challenge.

Taylor has one of the best resumes in boxing over the last year and a half or so. Two fights with Hopkins, one with Winky and one with Ouma is pretty good going. I wouldn't criticise him at all if he moved up to fight Calzaghe. Abraham and Miranda are good fighters, but they are not opponants that anyone is gonna look back on in 10 years and say I wish Taylor would have fought them. Abrahan will probably spend his whole career in Germany and Miranda although a big puncher, has a lot of holes in his game. A fight with Calzaghe or Winky is much bigger than a fight with either of those two, at least for the time being.

p.s I just hope Taylor doesn't end up fighting Sergio Mora. Now that is a disgraceful opponant. That just as bad as Calzaghe fighting Manfredo.

On paper Taylor's resume looks fantastic, but on close inspection he's still 'under construction', let's say.

Unbelievable. You guys are taking taylor to task for ducking tough opposition? Even undersized, Ouma is a tough guy. And him after Wright and Hopkins? Better if there were more champions like him.

I say let JT follow the money for a couple of fights. If it takes him in the direction of Miranda or Abraham, so be it. If it takes him to Mora or Pavlik, I'm ok with that too. Even Calzaghe, if JT wants to move up in weight.

Don't think anyone is being critical of what Taylor has DONE, just the fact that he is on about moving up when there are still some big fights at Middleweight.

I wouldmuch rather see Calzaghe (or Kessler) clean up the Super Middleweight devision (by fighting each other) and in that time Taylor cleaning up the Middleweight devision by fighting the IBF and WBA champions.

I don't think Miranda and Abraham are particularly massive Middleweights - they will probably stick around there for a while, so when Taylor moves up I cannot see him going back down.
