Taylor's RECORD looks great, but his performances are not - yet. He has an image problem, in that he has yet to beat anyone good convincingly.
There has been a gross imbalance in Taylor's opposition. And his fighting style shows it. He's uneven.
I'm very pleased with Kessler. He fights like a fully rounded veteran and is going into a fight with someone who has the capability of knocking him out. Mundine, Beyer, Siaca and Lucas are solid names to have.
As to your has been remark, Mundine looks anything but that following his masterful win over Green (almost as good as Calzaghe's over Lacy) and upcoming fight with Soliman. And Librado Andrade is a promising young puncher.
Is there anything comparable on the schedules of Calzaghe or Taylor? Didn't think so, aren't they both fighting Contender boys??
Drawing with Wright is better than any win on Kessler's record.
It's also better than any win on Calzaghe's record, which, in turn, is far worse than Kessler's record.
Mundine couldn't knock my mum out,
27-3 (21 KOs). among them Rick Thronberry, for example, who went 12 rounds with Calzaghe.
Beyer even less so, and Siaca and Lucas were waaaaaay past their best (not that eithers best was ever that good anyway) when Kessler had a crack at them.
Mundine and Beyer alone is much better than Calzaghe's entire record, assembled over 10 disappointing years.
Plus: Kessler went to Australia and fought Mudine infront of this homecrowd.
If you want to hype up Kessler,
Kessler doesn't need hyping up. It's obvious that he's by far the biggest threat at 168, and it's as obvious that Calzghe is ducking him.
Taylor really isn't the man to try and draw comparisons against, simply because in every sense that counts he's in a different class.
Exactly. His cl ass is 160, while Kessler and Calzaghe are at 168. Buyt Calzaghe is so scared of Kessler that he needs to turn to the little men.

But you're right -- Green is good but a bit one-sided, while Mundine is top notch world class. Another guy Calzaghe will never fight.
Danny has had his moments at supermiddle, but he was never anything more than a brawler and was found out second time around by the most beatable of 168lb champions, Marcus Beyer. Mundine is hugely overrated, on the back of his various losses-- which says it all really.
