Kostya Tszyu vs Meldrick Taylor
Kostya Tszyu vs Meldrick Taylor
Would MTs Speed Be too much for KT? Or? Does KT stop Him With Accurate Well placed Bombs... ? Would MTs Try To fight on the inside Where Kts Likes it and get pushed around by Kts Superior Strength? Or Does Taylor hang in To win a Des..?

I'm going to go considerably against what I think the prevailing winds will be on this scenario. I think Kostya had what it would take to overcome Meldrick, or Chavez in their primes. As long as it is in their actual Primes and the weight is SuperLightweight.
Ok...I'm going to get beer bottles thrown at me for this but I think he had the combination of skills, judgement and intelligence to beat them even with there widely differing styles...so much so that I would bet on him in these matchups.
Now before the crowd says "Buzz we think you lack the combination of skills, judgement and intelligence to find your way back into this forum next week and we can't wait for you to turn you computer off", Let me say I think Kostya is a bit bigger than either of them and is at home at this weight moreso than Taylor or Chavez. With his style I think it gives him an advantage over either of them. I also think he has more heart than what was shown when his trainer took him out of the Hatton fight...not to mention he was past his prime at that time.
I'm not sure he was ever really tested in the way Taylor or Chavez were so most who disagree will disagree based on the tougher opponents the others faced....and then there is always the Vince Phillips moment. I'm convinced that was a fluke...but it makes burying my opinion in a blather of reality and facts all the easier for those of you who are going to lambast, lampoon and otherwise laugh down my well thought out, reasoned over, and very nearly flawless as well as stunningly accurate opinion. An opinion that should be revered by those with higher discernability factors. Not to mention for other asundry technical reasons that due to the exreme minutia would take entirely to long to accurately quantify within the limits of the cumbersome written English language.
He beats Zab, Sharmba and old (and Prime) Chavez and I think he would have given Floyd and DLH a run....but the timing was not to be. Of course he always has a punchers chance but I think he was far more than that due mostly to his intelligence.
Oh and prime vs prime he beats Aaron Pryor with less difficulty than Taylor or Chavez but of course so would Ricky Hatton so maybe that won't be such a hard thing for people to accept.
Ok this "opining" of mine should get me into the year 2007 with a bit of fireworks. I can only hope that if this painfully scandalizes your intellect that you can reach for appropriate relief in the form of that Golden Elixer that brings all minds to a remarkable state of awareness.
By the way Happy New Year....

How is Chavez's chin better, Tszyu was only stopped once in 300 fights and that was in the 10th round of a brutal fight that he got tired in. I dont think Tszyu's chin was an issue, Tszyu was always good against movers the only 2 fights he lost were against come forward pressure style fighters.Decagon wrote:Tszyu was as powerful as the Chavez that Taylor fought, but he had nowhere near as good a chin. Taylor's offense would do too much damage, and Tszyu would either quit, be stopped or lose a very, very wide decision.
Tsyzu's chin will not be a factor in this fight and even if it is not as good as Julio's, it's definitely sturdy enough to take MELDRICK'S BEST. He was far from a big big puncher. Meldrick I believe would be more likely to succumb to a KO or TKO loss. I think Kostya is stronger physically, hits harder and is just as fit. He is not as fast, however, he is a clever boxer and will not be leading with his face, as JC does. So Meldrick will not land near as much. I see KT winning by late TKO or very close decision
Kosta Tszyu's chin isn't in the same league as Julio Cesar Chavez's. Besides his KO loss to Vince Phillips he almost got taken out by Diosbelys Hurtado in the 1st round. Anyone who thinks Tszyu's going to KO Taylor, needs to watch Taylor's near perfect performance against Buddy McGirt, a fighter I'd rate considerably higher than Tszyu.
McGirt better than Tszyu, You must be kidding Tszyu is top 3 at 140 ever McGirt not even top 10.Seamus wrote:Kosta Tszyu's chin isn't in the same league as Julio Cesar Chavez's.
