Duran beats Chavez easily. wide UD or late round TKO maybe.

Duran is better than Chavez in almost everything --speed, power, elusiveness, cleverness, ferocity, technique, experience, footwork, defense and mobility.

Chavez has difficulty in leading the game in his favor. His offense is too simple to penetrate Duran's defense. Duran has great defense. Duran is very, very elusive and equipped with good counter.

Chavez has great chin and good stamina, but overall boxing ability is clearly below that of Duran.

Chavez's biggest offense is body hook. However I think who throws more accurate body shots will be Duran. The reason is Duran has good feints and pace-controlling power.

I think Duran can beat Chavez easily in lightweight. In Superlightweight and Welterweight Duran dominates Chavez more easily because Duran is naturally bigger than Chavez. I cannot even think Chavez can stand upright in front of Marvin Hagler in the middle of the ring. In 160 lbs Chavez will be kayoed by Duran.

Duran is one level above Chavez. Chavez will have difficulty in the match with Floyd Mavweather Jr.

Chavez is the same level with Mosley, Mayweather, Del a Hoya and so on..

JC just too slow and predictable for Duran who is better in the key areas of speed, defense, elusiveness and business. JC may well last the distance but he will be thoroughly outscored and outboxed

Both guys are great at applying pressure and breaking down opponents with combinations, mixing it up to the head and body. I thought Chavez seemed a little more fluid with his combos, while Duran was just faster overall. Chavez was methodical and a little more predictable. Duran could swarm and come at different angles. Sometimes it would look like he was coming to one side of the opponent's body and then a sudden movement would put him at the other side, and he'd attack. Ultimately I think Duran's superior speed and ability to also box so well at range would be the difference. Chavez has few advantages on Duran. Maybe chin (slight), maybe combinations (slight)...but Duran was better overall.

If you like that sort of thing perhaps, but I can get the same type of 'entertainment' in my local bar where theres always some sad guy crying and shouting into his beer about how everything is crap, his wife has piles and he hasnt been able to hold an erection since Kennedy was bumped off!... :x :-? 8)
...as my mom used to say to me... "if you're going to be a misery be original about it!"....
I fear there is nothing new or original in Decs act!... and he seldom makes me laugh!... :-? :x

With all due respect you almost have to have repeat topics. Otherwise you would run out of subjects. I try to use the search button but sometimes it just doesn't quite cover everything. I even unwitingly repeated my own thread once. Was a bit embarising but everyone was gracious about it. Plus their are new people all of the time.

If you are seeking new discusion fodder to kick around then you should visit the other subjects forum. They discuss a diverse group of topics and you basically have leeway to talk about whatever you find interseting. Some of it serious and some on the lighter side. All of it taylor made for a well read guy like yourself. :TU:
