VIC DARCHINYAN is ARMENIAN - NOT Australian

Post by VanesBoxing »

WoW!! :o

First Arthur Abraham, now Darchinyan???

Why do you BoxRec people hate us Armenians so much??? :(

Darchinyan represented ARMENIA in the 2000 Sidney Olympics for crying out loud.

His parents live in Armenia, he has opened a boxing school in Armenia, he raises the Armenian flag first before the Australian when goin in the ring.

Speaks Armenian as his primary language and is still an Armenian CITIZEN.

First off, thanks for making the correction Scott and being understanding.

I was a bit mad because a few months back we had a 2 or 3 page arguement as to Arthur Abraham being Armenian NOT German.

Still BoxRec mods insisted that no Abraham is German and have kept him listed that way.

I know these Armenian boxers personally because i do their web designs and work on their promotions so it just got to me you know.

BELIEVE ME - Vic Darchinyan AND Arthur Abraham ARE ARMENIAN. :TU:

Darch has taken out Aussie citizenship & travels on Aussie passport.
In my books that makes him an Aussie - Like it or lump it. :D

BTW, have you checked his nationality in IBF & IBO?
I think you'll find it clearly states Australian.

You are either a real idiot, or a racist son of a bitch.

I cant quite put my finger on it just yet.

VIC DARCHINYAN is Armenian whether you like it or not you moron. He may be the only current World Champ fighting out of Australia, but he is Armenian.

I dont need to read shit, because he is a good friend of mine and I do his fight promotions here in Los Angeles.

I hate pricks like you who have some supposed authority here, yet dont know shit and want to act all smart and tough reading a line here and there lol.

You want stuff to read, READ THIS...

ARMENIAN PRESIDENT RECEIVES WORLD BOXING CHAMPION VAKHTANG (VIC) DARCHINYAN

YEREVAN, June 27. /ARKA/. Armenian President Robert Kocharyan received today world boxing champion, IBF and IBO, Vic (Vakhtang) Darchinyan and his first coach Vazgen Badalyan.
The press service of the Armenian President reported that Kocharyan wished luck to the Armenian boxer, saying that the fact that Armenian names appear in the professional boxing is pleasant. According to him, every success achieved is an example for inspiration for many sportsmen.
In his turn, Darchinyan informed the president of the upcoming programs and planned fights. He said that he is going to open a fight club in Vanadzor that will be aimed at preserving beautiful traditions of the Armenian boxing school and provision of the future victorious progress of Armenian boxers.
Armenian boxer Vic Darchinyan resides in Australia and is the champion for IBF and IBO qualification. He gained 26 wins in 26 fights; 21 of them were knockouts.
On June 3, 2006, Darchinyan again defended the title of the world champion for IBF qualification under the weight category up to 50.8kg during the fight against Louis Maldonado ranking 8th in the IBF rating.
Darchinian was awarded the title of the champion in professional boxing for the first time in the history of the Armenian sport. Though the well-known boxer represents Australia as well, his every fight is preceded by the music of Armenian composer Ara Gevorgyan and hoisting of the Armenian flag.

EXACTLY!!

Therefore, you need to take my word for it and stop being so sour about an issue so clear.

VIC WONT be Australian in a million years.
I understand you are, and you are proud of him like manyyy other Australians. He has given alot to your country and vice versa, BUT, you need to understand the man lived most his life in Armenia and was born there, he represented Armenia in the Olympics, and his future plans include defending his title in HIS HOME COUNTRY Armenia.

You seem fairly intellegent, so I take it you arn't an idiot, I just hope Im wrong about you being racist as well.

If you are a credible editor here, you are ruining your reputation with your posts and losing arguement.

I'm really not sure what the big deal is here. The guy was born in Armenia - HE'S ARMENIAN.

I was born in the U.S. and live in Thailand - I'm an American. If someone were to call me Thai I wouldn't like it at all. All this nonsense about calling him Australian is IMO a slap in his face. I'm not sure why there's such a hard-on for this type of thing.

well im glad at least you see that fact, and that there is absolutely NO arguement here.
Just that your friend AntonS is having problems with that cuz he is from the land down under. He needs to take the stick out his ass and wait for real Australian World Champs to come along before he gets his hard on.

Im the man that greets VIC here at LAX when he arrives to train before his big fights.
If someone was to ask him "VIC, are you Australian?"
He wouldn't even respond, rather give you a sarcastic smile to let you know that you are completely CLUELESS.

I just hope Im wrong about you being racist as well.
I was born in Slovenia. Racism isn’t one of our better qualities.

Scott
When I took out Aussie citizenship in 1985 (after living here since 1961) my Slovenian nationality blew out the window.
That's the way it is Downunder.

You are a coward then to your Slovenian brothers and sisters. Because they should be able to take AntonS out of Slovenia, but never be able to take Slovenia out of AntonS.

Just because you arn't proud of who you ARE and WHERE you come from, doesn't mean others are like you.

VIC is too proud of an Armenian to think and act the way you do.
We have a 2,000 year old history with many struggles that we have endured and have persevered through.
Just because we move out of our motherland to help further our career or live a better life doesnt mean we forget WHO WE ARE and WHERE WE COME FROM.

I thought a Slovak would have carried more nationalistic pride than that my friend. Ouch.

Citizenship is merely a new plastic passport and a very poor excuse to forget what your homeland and your nation has given you.

Might I suggest some pride in your nation.
Why?
All I know is Aussie Rules Football, Cricket & Boxing.
Plus I’d look ridiculous in oversized leather shorts…or whatever they’re called.

Anton you may consider yourself an Aussie and that's good for you. But if Darchinyan considers himself an Armenian, that's what he is. He was born there and will always be an Armenian...just as IMO you will always be Slovenian.

you will always be Slovenian.
Something is wrong here.
I nor Slovenia consider me as such. How can you?
If I went back there & wanted to live there permanently, I'd be treated no different to any other nationalities.

Ok, but if Darchinyan goes back he is an ARMENIAN and since talking about him is what is important, my guess is he remains an ARMENIAN not an Australian.

We'll soon find out.
I've sent his trainer Billy Hussein a message - asking him to double check with Vic.
I also suggested if Vic wishes to be listed as Armenian, they contact IBF & IBO and request they do likewise.
Cheers
