Amateur Records

Post by JAHamilton77 »

I dont know if there is a thread like this already, but I was wondering if someone could make a thread with a listing of the Amateur Records of some of the boxers of today and yester-year. It would be a nice resource for us all.

My grandfather's brother, Edward Tiernan, as an amateur in the 1920's, went 21-4 with 2 bouts that have unknown results. There could be a few more bouts unaccounted for but I researched it pretty good and 21-4 isn't too shabby..of course I'm partial :D . On April 6, 1926 he became the A.A.U. National Welterweight Champion.
Here's his and his brother's story: http://home.earthlink.net/~inkpen/

Great idea and yes, it's been discussed before. The research that would have to be done is overwhelming. Before 1987, actual records were not kept. The passbooks were started in 1987. In order to compile accurate records, you would have to see or find every boxer's passbook.

Yes I see there are several threads about amateur boxing records, no one great place to find them all.

Just does not exist. I would not be possible to collect all of them.

The Cuban records page is fairly good. I couldn't find any other sites, including the "search" that was posted, that have records for current boxers.
