Boxers from Malawi?

Post by emile »

Today I found this article from the Malawi Nation online:
http://www.nationmalawi.com/articles.asp?articleID=5501

It says that there is a professional card in Lilongwe this Sunday, and lists two fighters - Pepecho Nkandawire and Moze Mahilasi. Nkandawire is said to have 9 professional fights.

Not trying to make things hard for everyone :-? but I can't remember coming across any Malawian fighters in the database. Is there a professional standard for a national group of boxers to be included in the ratings? Or is this just too obscure to be followed?

Thanks.

According to a search John did this week, we have three. Ali Faki being one of them. As long as they are pro fights they will be entered, getting the results is another story. I found Faki in the country search, 1997.

Drake Thadzi was a pretty decent one although he fought mostly in Canada and the US. I don't even know if there is a commission over there so it's very difficult to get results. :(

We're missing a lot of results from Africa, basically because we have few people to follow the scene over there. We have an editor from Tanzania now, but then there's Malawi, Namibia etc. etc.

The reason for the lack of good records of African fighters is that nothing or nobody credible has emerged that can help share records with sites like this or Fight Fax. It isn't as if people are sitting on data from these countries. The fact is, that is never been seen or shared with others.
