Lightweights: Oscar DeLaHoya vs Ken Buchanan

Post by elmersalsa »

I pick Buchanan in this one. Both of them fast at this weight. DLH may have the punching power edge, but can he KO Ken? Both have great chins though.

I think DLH has a chance to KO him but would win a decision if not.

Buchannon will win in this fight.

Hoya is just a good fighter in lightweight. Consider his fight with John John..

Hoya doesn't have the skill to beat as elusive a fighter as Buchannon..

Oscar barely edsged a washed up Whitaker.

Buchanan was on a par with Whitaker.

A prime Buchanan beats Oscar a 135.

No disgrace for Oscar, as Buchanan was a great fighter.

Buchanan cpuld do it all at his peak and IMO has too much movement for a relatively static DLH.

I wasnt paying attention as well as I should have. I gave my estimate thinking welterweight. At lightweight I suppose DLH is not as strong and could end up Ken's victim.

Does anyone else agree that at Welter this would be a DLH victory? I'm not going to argue the lightweight outcome since Ken gave Duran such a great fight. I think others got this right at lightweight.

Ken never fought above lightweight as I recall...so no track record to follow but I'm thinking DLH size at his prime would give him the advantage.

Buchanan had that jab so quick and excellent boxing skills and could fight in the inside as well as the outside. Had a very underrated chin and was as fast as any lightweight in history. I cannot see DLH beating him. Too much skills for Oscar.

A lot of people don't seem to remember De La Hoya at this weight. I don't think Buchanan was any faster than De La Hoya. De La Hoya was also a much harder puncher. De La Hoya wins this by decision or late round stoppage.

Oscar too fast and a harder puncher. Better allround boxer and a great chin. He be landing more punches from more angles throughout
