Will Hatton beat Urango?

Post by Boxing Addict »

This will be a cracker, as both Hatton and Urango fight in the same way. Both aggresive come forward who dig hard and tough as nails.

I reckon it could ba another contraversal win for Hatton - a split decision.

And by contraversial split decision you of course mean 'one sided battering of urango by hatton.'

I've never seen Urango fight, and his record doesn't show too much - is he a genuine puncher? hard to tell..

But he must be feeling a lot more confident as champion, and I'm getting the feeling that Hatton might be in for one of those shocks ( I was thinking the same for Collazo as well ) : long lay off, moving up & down the weights, arm injury and probably sees this as an easy, business as usual fight.

One of those ticking over fights, that can sometimes go badly wrong. He might have trouble getting focused for this one.

That's assuming Urango is as decent as people say he is.

Urango looks like he's made out of rock, but he lacks finesse and really was lucky to beat Rabah. Although Rabah was hitting him with feather punches.

It could be a good fight, and Urango's a southpaw as well.

I think Hatton beats him 8-4 on points.

Ricky should win this unless he's really slipped, Urango doesnt seem to be anything special.... to his credit he seems to have got himself fitter earlier for this fight than for his recent bouts... after his dodgey showings against Maussa and Collazo he really needs in impressive performance here to keep himself on track.... if he fights like he did against Collazo though he could end up losing...

I don't think he was bad vs Maussa. Sure he had a messy 1st 4 rounds, but when he settled he scored lovely jabs that had Maussa rocking backward.

He wasnt 100% against Maussa imo and was even worse against Collazo... another bad performance and you'd have to say that he peaked against Kostya, which I think is very possible... with his sort of style Ricky should be far more active than he has been and I mentioned his ballooning weight before.....

Ricky's never going to look slick. At this level he will always look a little rough.

One thing I hate is when people say that Hatton's a dull clincher. I keep thinking back to the 2 best pure boxers that Roberto Duran clutched hold of, Buchanan and Leonard (1st fight). I know RD made an art out of rough tactics, but his performance was extremely ugly vs Buchanan and I hate it when I read crap in Ring magazine (so called classic columns) about how Ken quit on purpose because he was so overwhelmed.

These days, Duran would've been DQ'd for the low blow and would've been told to clean his act up with the untidy grabbing.

Think you're being a bit harsh on Roberto there and can you really compare Ricky with Duran?... I think not, Roberto was quite a few levels above him... and Duran was hardly 'ugly' against Buchanan imo, and it was Ken who was doing most of the holding imo....

A win for ricky!

Post by weeman26 »

Hatton to win possibly by 12 round shut out...if not it'll be a win in under 8 rounds!! Reckon hatton will be back to his good old self punishing the body of urango! Then its on to castillo for a big money fight in america! After that hatton can concentrate on gettin the belts back..ie taking on junior witter if he still holds the belt! I'm hoping my predictions are right and hatton will be at the top of the game and heavily in the american spotlight!

I know what you mean - I did try and distinguish between Duran and Hatton by saying that "I know RD made an art out of rough tactics" but I stand by my point.

Duran-Buchanan was a hideous looking fight, yet old time Americans just love to lick Duran's back end. Duran was tenacious vs Buchanan, but from the horse's mouth Buchanan has said that Duran was smothering his own work, not landing cleanly all the time, made it a maul, not giving either of them room to hit clean and then whacked his balls out of frustration before refusing a rematch. Of course Rd was ahead, but I wonder what would've happened if they'd both simply boxed.

Not saying Buchanan's better than Duran, nor that Ricky is, just that things get twisted.

Glyn Leach made an interesting point. After Hatton beat Tszyu, there was a backlash from US writers about Hatton's low blow. But they never had a thing against Buchanan getting a vicious hook to the bolloks.

I know what your saying, obviously Duran had to keep the pressure on Buchanan and so did 'smother' him quite a bit, but then Ken did hold a lot himself in order to get a respite from Durans constant attacks. Duran fought Leonard in much the same way. Personally I think its a great fight to watch, I've always thought that the foul happend as Duran was going to the body and Ken twisted backwards making the shot land low.... I dont see why Duran would purposely foul in a fight which he was clearly winning.... but Ken definately should have been given a rematch...
he probably would have finally got the rematch had he beaten Suzuki.... I actually got that fight recently but havent yet watched it!....

Yeah, Duran did seem too much for Buchanan, a bit too feisty, but Ken deserved a bit better than he got. Never the luckiest of fighters, was Buchanan.

I expect Hatton to win comfortably.

To be honest I think Hatton will do very well to match the Tszyu peformance again in his career. He was phenomenal that night.

As for Urango, he looks two weights above in this picture!

Image

It says In Boxing Monthly he got his build from selling rocks to local building sites, from which he fished out of Columbian rivers.

Hatton will win this fight, Urango's never fought in the class of Hatton and was lucky to have the belt in his last fight. Hatton's strenght at 140 and work rate will break Urango up while he trades with Hatton. Hattons took flush shots from the hardest hitters at the weight can came through, I think the body attacks will win this fight and slow Urango down.

Urango's got a superb build, but so does Jeff Lacy and that alone does not win you fights :TU:

Callazo's no puncher, It was Hatton's lack of defence and skill in that fight.

Callazo was beaten in a close fight with a Hatton who lacked his underrated skills, so I see Mosley winning against Callazo too.

I think Hatton wins by UD. Should be a good fight as they both have aggressive styles but I saw Urango's last fight and thought he can be outboxed fairly easily. Plus Hatton feels like he has to impress after the last one...

I think Hatton is determined to win America over properly this time, to make up for the rough showing against Collazo. I believe it will a razor sharp perfromance from the hitman and he will wear down Urango around he 10th.

I think it was down to a) a rushed preparation after the much easier Lazcano pulled out, and b) the fsct that Ricky is vulnerable to a southpaw right hook...Ricky deserved the win because of a superb start - in the early going Collazo didn't know whre to hide. All this talk of robbery is a load of wank.

I reckon we'll see Hatton looking more like he did with Ben Tackie. More jabbing and movement. I doubt he'd want to give Urango a chance to land inside. Maybe draw the sting out of him, outbox him, then push him back when he's shown to be a bit utclassed.

Hatton by Ko in the middle rounds, Urango has no skills and is just a little better than Tackie, Urango was gifted the title in his fight with Rabah and Hatton will eat him up on the inside.

I will say, Urango is probably better than he looked vs Rabah. Rabah is a very difficult man to fight. He's compact, heavy handed, a southpaw and he could catch Ricky with something nasty coming from the 'wrong side'.

urango is untested and we all know what hatton can do,i can see hatton stopping him with body shots,on paper its a great fight.urango, castillio, mayweather then retired.
