Nice piece. However, I wish (and I know I am ALONE in this) Team Haye would tell the public to bombared the WBC in forcing Haye to fight Bell now and not this Bell vs Mormeck match.

Bell's fight with Mormeck is an overdue mandatory isn't it? Mormeck certainly deserves his crack before Haye. They need to get a move on and get the fight made though!!

Why make Haye vs Fragomeni an eliminator? Not saying your wrong but surely Haye can get his hands on at least an interim title. Surely worst case scenerio (well actually maybe not knowing this sport) is that the winner of Bell vs Mormeck will have a certain amount of days to fight Haye.... if they beat each other senseless, then they might not want to fight Tony Booth straight after.

It is tenditavely scheduled for March, but remember Tarver vs Jones Jnr 1 was scheduled for the IBF title long before Johnson vs Woods 1 took place. A week or so before the fight, the IBF decided to strip Tarver and give a guy ranked 8th by the organisation (Johnson) as shot at the vacant title.

Very odd situtation, I think its because they gave extra time for the Mormeck mandatory to happen because of that Superfighter tournament Bell was supposed to be fighting in. So this is the next due mandatory I believe. A bit of a mess in all honesty, thats the sanctioning bodies for ya!

I agree with the sentiments that Hayes team have expressed. It's up to the British Public to demand this fight. I will be sending an email to ITV very soon. If every British member of boxrec does the same then maybe, just maybe we may get this fight on. Its definitely time for the public to make a stand against these politics which are destroying the sport.

What's pissing me off so much is the fornicating around between the managers/promoters. Fun-time Frankie obviously has some previous. And if Booth is not denying that he agreed a 4 fight deal then he's naive at best.

But for fucks sake, Maccarinelli and Haye are both happy to fight each other, as far as I can make out. And regardless of what you think of either guy, surely that's all that matters?

I fornicating hate boxing. No other sport features this much fornicating about. Can you imagine the scenes if Man U. drew Chelsea in the F.A. Cup, but Man U. refused to play? Or if Chelsea said "yes, we'll play. But if you win, we get Rooney until the end of the season". Bollocks, the lot of it.

who knows - some fighters come from nowhere to get mandatory shots, like the next Juan Diaz opponent. Whereas others have to wait bloody ages. King won purse bids for Bell last August, and didn't make the fight til the following March. Everyone seemingly is farting about with this WBC cruiser situation - if Bell doesn't like the look of Haye, who's to say he'll need another 'trip to the dentist' when the times comes to put his belt on the line.

I doubt very much Bell is going to be quaking in his boots at the thought of facing Haye. Mormeck is a much tougher proposition and fought and beat him. I think Mormeck will win the rematch which is as good as taking place on his home turf. Mormeck is a much tougher fight for Haye I think and I doubt very much he'd beat him.

fair point, but there are enough threads about this bloody fight already lol

as for 'public pressure' dont make me laugh. boxing promoters have never had the publics interest at heart. sometimes i think that the BBBofC or World bodies should be allowed to make fights happen just to settle these instances, call it a mandatory ranking fight or whatever, but take it out of the hands of people with cash cows to protect.

They won't ignore us then.

Stu can do a one-man picket somewhere else with a 'HAYE-BELL must happen' but whatever the result will be the same because across the nation people will be seen to be taking to the streets to demand that the best most competitive fights are made!

I don't think I changed the subject, just curious as to why Adam Booth wants Enzo all of a sudden.

I just cannot understand why all of a sudden its Enzo, Enzo, Enzo from team Haye. After he beat Gurov (long before most thought he was ready) Haye was saying "EBU title now gives me a WBC ranking, I'm after the big guns". Indeed, when mandated match with Hobson was proposed (this was before Hobson vs Maccarinelli) the fight being nixed wasn't met with a chorus of boos from British fight fans, cause most could see the path Haye was taking and to side step Hobson seemed like a decent step.

Now he is THERE (if Booth et al., put as much pressure on the WBC as seems to be doing regarding this Enzo match then something positive is bound to happen) Bell/Mormeck/WBC is not being mentioned.

Why bother with the WBC eliminator when he doesn't look to be interested in utlising it.

As you pointed out, I am in the major minority here - but for me its the same scenario as this.

Who would you have rather seen Witter fight - Eamonn Magee (prior to the Takaloo fight) for the WBU title or Demarcus Corely for the vacant WBC.

I will be looking forward to this fight as much as anyone, but all in good time. Get the WBC fight sorted first.... He can come back down to Maccarinelli's level (should he lose) or make it a "unification" should he win. Loses or WINS vs Maccarinelli and his WBC ranking is in jeopardy.

British public are still going Who vs Who at the moment. Another reason for it to wait just till Autumn. Enzo will continue to get ITV 1 coverage (he has yet to have a prime time ITV 1 slot yet) and Haye will get some press coverage for taking on the best fighter in the devision.

Think you made a good point Stu Jones.Personally,I would prefer to see,what I consider Britains best cruiserweight,fight against the undoubted number 1 in the division.
Haye v Macca is a fight I would like to see of course,but given a straight choice,I would take Haye v Mormeck/Bell every time.

Do you reckon old Allegedly would do all he can to get Haye in the ring with Enzo if Haye were to become the WBC champ(big ask I know)

Bet your life he would!

We will never see this fight.Should Haye get and win his shot at the number 1 cruiserweight,there won't be nothing left at cruiser for him to prove.It will all be about the heavies for him then.
Even if he lost,I still think he would then move up.
It is a shame.But it is hardly a suprise.

Haye has said he's changed his plans to fight Enzo next, because it's the fight the fans want to see (spot on). I don't think anything has changed concerning the WBC title, it's just that he has at least 6 months to kill before that fight takes place, fair play to him for using his time productively. Enzo in April followed by Bell/Mormeck in the summer is the plan as far as I'm aware.

These negotiations for Haye-Enzo are in a right fcuking state, maybe they should get some grown-ups in to do the negotiating for them

I can't understand why the original offer that Haye and Booth accepted is not still on offer, what's all this 'the offer is now invalid' bollox :x

So it wasnt ITV that wanted options, it was SN - Ok, that clears that up (btw it was quoted that ITV wanted options yesterday and not SN, so that was a lie)

Let me get this straight:

Haye and co agreed in principal to options but when it came to written draft the finer details of the contract where a cause for concern.

Haye and co dispute these finer points with SN, but it is to no avail and the fight is off.

I think both are at fault really.

Although I have to say that from what I have read, there doesnt appear to be much negotiaion on the part of SN when dealing with a non stable fighter
