It is being reported on BBN (Tom Podmore) that Coventry featherweight Richard Evatt is on his way back. He seeemed to be continually popping up in best knockout tapes even as a victim in some.
Talking of the Junior Jones fight he said: “I would have been driving round in a BMW now if I had avoided that punch,” Evatt admits. “The plan was to beat Jones, defend the title against a top American and then fight Prince Naseem Hamed."
I do find it odd that all of a sudden the reason why he was consistently failing the scans has cleared up. Not suggesting anything sinister, but I have always watched Evatt through the gaps between my fingers semi expecting (sorry to say) it ending disasterously.

All the medical examinations have been past according to the report.
I find it strange that he was so close to the wire concerning passing his tests early in his career and yet now seems to be fine??... strange.
I always liked watching him, but fighters with his style never usually last long and his last fight (early ko loss I think) seemed to show that he's lost all punch resistance... which wont have improved with years of inactivity. Good luck to him, but I dont think he should be fighting again...
He'll need more than luck after all that's happened since the Jones fight. Without doubt a tremendously exciting fighter in his day, but I can only see a comeback ending one way for Evatt.
