Bonsante-Vanda winner could
be matched with Duddy next!
Much more than bragging rights and regional title belts will be on the line Friday night (Jan. 12) when Minnesota middleweight champion Anthony "The Bullet" Bonsante fights Minnesota archrival Matt "The Predator" Vanda, headlining "Bad Blood" in the 10-round main event for the state title and vacant IBA Americas championship, at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The winner will move to the head of the line to challenge IBA World middleweight title-holder "Ireland's" John Duddy (18-0, 15 KOs) on March 16 in the marquee fight live on pay-per-view from The Theatre in New York City's famed Madison Square Garden. Duddy's promoter, Irish Ropes president Eddie McLoughlin, and head trainer Harry Keitt will be at ringside scouting Bonstante-Vanda.

"After I beat Vanda," Bonsante said, "I'll be the IBA Americas champ. John Duddy's the IBA World middleweight champion. He doesn't have an opponent for his March 16th fight in New York City. Duddy and me is a natural match." Vanda remarked, "I don't think there's anything special about Duddy. He's a tough dude. I had a bad fight in New York City and he said I was schooled. But he didn't see the real 'Predator' that fight."

Well, I think Vanda will beat Bonsante who hasn't done much since the contender. Vanda is massive for the weight and is quite decent. He has some decent wins on his resume and although well beaten by Mora is a step up for Duddy.

Tough fight.

Vanda will beat Bonsante quite easily, Bonsante has a open defence, he's brave but takes far to many shots.

Duddy was bloody lucky to get through a close fight with ancient Yory Boy Campas, so he'd better show some improvement for this one.

I think Bansante has a good chance against Duddy..

I thought thats a bit of a shocker - still a bit of a "tick" for the Contender show... its been pleasing to see many of the first series fighters do well.

I've seen Vanda enough times to know he is very decent. I think he would give any of our Middleweights, outside of Howard... and awful lot of a trouble. Although, I think he could be pushing a fringe contender is he could relax a bit more in the ring and just let the punches go.

An excellent win for Bosante - Duddy vs Bosante could be a good one.

Duddy brings good power and excitment to the table but his head movement isn't there and he laves his impressive jab haanging out too long after throwing. Still not seen this Bonsante fight but i am sure it will be fun for as long as it lasts.

Bonasante was the fellar who wore 'the worlds No 1 dad' cap in the Contender and was regularly in tears at the merest mention of his kids.

I wasnt really that impressed by him on the show and Duddy should handle him if he is going anywhere at all.

Wasnt Vanda involved in a ring tragedy, or am I think of someone else?

Talking of Irish (oops!) prospects Andy Lee and James Moore both look good don't they. With Duddy and Bernard Dunne in the mix too the future's bright...the future's erm...orange, green and white

Anyone seen Andy Lee fight? I've heard good things about him. From what I've seen of Duddy I like him, exciting to watch although his defense is not good, no head movement at all. Think he might have a thrilling yet very painful career, looking forward to seeing him in the mix in the future though.

Andy Lee looks quite good, he's not the puncher that alot think though, nice combinations he throws . He has the look that he will progress to at least Euro standard.
