This is a different case though.
As I understand,Haye wanted the fight without any title on the line.Presumably so he could retain his number 1 ranking for the genuine world title which he currently has.
To me,this shows that Fwank was'nt as confident about his man winning as he was letting on.
If this fight is a foregone conclusion,as he has been rambling on about for the past few months,then surely it makes no difference in getting options on Haye?
Add the fact Enzo is probably the least most deserving "world champion" around in the sport today,I can't see how Fwank should demand any options on Haye.

Haye has bigger things on the horizon anyway.I say good luck to him,he wants to do it the right way IMO.

According to a friend of Hayes, Warren wanted to own the winner and promote his next half a dozen or so fights. Confirmation that Warren isn't as confident in Enzo as he makes out. Both fighters had agreed terms and were raring to go.

Enzo and Haye aren't the problem, it's solely allegedly.

This fight not happening makes me sick, British boxing can't keep sustaining blows like this

Well, I cannot say I am surprised by this. I don't know who's fault it is, but historically Warren has been reluctant to allow any of his title holders to defend their crowns against domestic rivals unless he got options.

It is a rather ridiculous situation that in boxing fights are derailed so often because a promoter isn't willing to risk their fighter losing their title, and in term, them losing control of that title and the right to promote that title.

I hope this fight can be rescued, but I knew something was up when there was no announcement from Sports Network about the fight following Haye's announcement that the fight was made.

It's pathetic. fWank can't make fights with other British promoters.

If ITV and the bloody MEN arena as well and Sky (a year or 2 ago) would not sign away exclusive contracts to the man things would be far more competitive, varied and exciting. Why does he have to hold a MONOPOLY and yet protect most of his fighters. People shouldn't encourage him, because we don't get a lot of fights, never mind good ones.

Even Calzaghe's win over Lacy is losing its shine, what with Kessler doing so well and Lacy getting a hometown decision over Tsypko.

This is a man who takes pot shots at Lennox Lewis, saying he wasn't great, and puts on (mostly) drivel involving Audley, Danny and hairy back Skelton. With Sprott in the mix, maybe they can do a News of the World 'Champions Forever' DVD?

He thinks he's the only promoter who counts. Well, he did bollox all for Witter; landed Earl in deep shit, undoing all the good work that Maloney did (Earl's entire rep rests on the win over a rusty Romanov); Macca will soon be overtaken by Haye.

The thing is that other promoters/managers are now getting their boxers shots at the big three world titles, and it's becoming more regular. Hobson has Hatton, and Clinton woods, Hennessy have Junior Witter, and Maloney has Haye, who may well have a world title this time next year. Calzaghe did have the IBF belt, but chose to ditch that, presumably so he can cherry pick his opponents in defence of his WBO title.

I would say that other promoters are gaining ground on Warren, certainly since Hatton defected to Hobson.

The situation with TV companies handing out exclusive contracts to ANYONE is ludicrous. Imagine if ITV only showed Man United games.

Promoters not working together certainly hurts the sport, I'm sure it's not exclusive to this country, as all promoters are trying to defend their position in the pecking order above all else.

It is good that Warren has competition because then he has to offer his boxers better deals or they will defect.
But for the paying fans it means alot of quality match-ups won't happen because the promoter doesn't want to lose his fighter.

also, Hobson has tried to work with Warren (Woods-Calzaghe), Maloney has tried (Haye-Macca) to no avail...I see a pattern starting here. I wonder what would happen if Witter tried to get M'baye...

Ultmately, few from rival camps will fight a Warren boy, because they have to turn their backs on the ppl who got them where they are in favour of 3-6 fight contracts.

I've emailed ITV - they should make a stand with FW continualy making substandard mismatches and passing them off as prime time entertainment.

They had the chance to put a 50/50 fight on an undercard of a bill that sees Calzaghe in a main event, where he must be a 50-1 on favorite.

Instead we'll see Enzo against some obscure powder puff punching Italian instead.

And yes I've no doubt Enzo would like the fight, it's just his backers who are looking to ride his bogus title to the bitter end, shafting the UK fight game at minimal risk, and getting every penny they can before Khan is ready to go the same road.

What bigger things? A fight against O'Neill Bell? that ain't going to happen anytime soon, Bell fights Mormeck in March, and if Bell wins that he isn't going to fight Haye straight after. Bell isn't the most busy boxer in the world. By the time the fight comes round then Haye will be to big for Cruiser. Mormeck is rated No1 , so that would mean Haye will probably be forced to box another eliminator before getting ranked No1.

Then if Mormeck wins the title , he will be looking for a nice easy first defence, and Haye doesn't fall into that. Also Mormeck is promoted by Don King, so if Haye's people won't sign options , can you imagine Don King not trying the same thing as Warren just has.

that would leave IBF champ Wlodarczyk , and seeing as Haye isn't even ranked in their top 15 that fight isn't going to happen.
What makes this even more ridiculous is that Arthur Williams is ranked 12th by the IBF, and Haye completly detroyed Williams in 3 rounds.

Its pathetic!... Fwank is the worst thing that ever happened to British boxing imo, I'd actually give Enzo a good chance at beating Haye, but this shambles is hardly going to boost his confidence, let alone his reputation, ...its something when you realise that your promoter doesnt belive in you 100%....
ITV made a bad mistake when they signed Alleged to a exclusive contract, now theyve been saddled with a series of mismatches and farcial pull outs... it can only be a matter of time before they pull the plug on Warren and boxing again...

The whiff of bullshit is strong here. For fucks sake, it's annoying enough when we get the Hatton-Witter situation where one guy just isn't bothered. But now we have Maccarinelli and Haye both keen for the fight, and it's still going to get scuppered. Someone is being a pudendum here, and I have a pretty good idea who it is.

I've just posted the latest from Adam Booth over at BBN. Amazingly, he said he did agree on a four-fight option...but when the contract came through it wasn't what they had verbally agreed.

You can draw your own conclusions from that.

O'Neil Bell has urged Enzo Maccarinelli and David Haye to fight for the good of the sport.

The world cruiserweight champion has given the British pair the added incentive of vowing to meet the winner of their potential clash for his WBA and WBC titles.

"Maccarinelli v Haye must happen for the good of boxing and for the good of this division," Bell told Wales on Sunday.

"There aren't enough glamorous boxing shows about now but that fight has an X-Factor. Great boxing divisions is all about great rivalry. I'd be an interested party as the winner can fight Supernova. You could call Maccarinelli versus Haye an eliminator."

Maccarinelli hopes to meet Haye on the undercard of Joe Calzaghe's super-middleweight title bout with Peter Manfredo Jnr at the Millennium Stadium in April. However the two camps have yet to reach an agreement.

You would think this would be another kick up the backside for the two camps to get back around the negotiating table but no it won't make a bit of difference. It's a disgrace this fight is not going to happen. It goes in the bin along with Hatton-Witter.

Well, I was glancing through the schedules earlier, and I noticed that the WBO Latino Cruiserweight title is up for grabs on Friday, between Brazils Luciano Torres, and Ali Ismailov, of, erm... Azerbaijan.

I say the winner will be surely due a shot at the full belt.

Bell knows he's lost ground and respect and is trying to see what market there is left for him. He probably badly needs a rival that has some excitement behind him.
