As 'legendary' as this man was in his time I have seldom come across anything about him, other than his 'Lumberjack Match' with Tommy Burns and that he wreaked havoc across America/Canada fighting miners and lumberjacks.
The rules of the Lumberjack Match was simple: there was none, other than the rounds. Kicking was allowed as well as punching. Evidentially from what I understand when Mahoney fought Burns it ended up being a draw but Mahoney did floor Burns with a solar plexus kick and even managed to kick Burns in the jaw, but it didn't drop him.
I was wondering if anyone knew more of him. I can tell that he must have been a fearsome character, but probably never fought an actual boxing bout; more like a street fighter.
