Hmmmm... he's chasing the money with those 2 fights (not that I blame him), those fights are win-win situations irrespective of the result. Fighting Lazcano or Harris wouldn't generate a tenth of what a fight against Hatton or Mayweather would, but would present just as much risk.

If it comes down to it then yes he would fight them, but I doubt very much he'd go looking for either. At 32 Witter must be looking for a payday; Castillo, Hatton, Mayweather, Corrales... I think he'd dump the WBC belt if one of those fights was on the table.

That's the whole point with Witter, sadly. He's spent the last few years shouting about how he'll take on Hatton, or, lately, face Mayweather, or how important the WBC belt is. Now, I don't want to sound like a stick-in-the-mud, but frankly, what options has he had? None. His approach has been admirable, the one we all salute; British, Commonwealth, European, World. But he hasn't had the chance to oppose anyone, because nobody gives a fornicate about him. I want him to fight Hatton, I really do. But I'd love to know just how keen he'd have been to claim the moral high ground if he was the big draw.

Still, HATTON-WITTER!!

Indeed, I was merely highlighting that no matter how much kudos anyone tries to attach to the belt, when and if the right fight comes along the belt goes out the window.
