Jimmy Young.

Post by KOJOE90 »

Editors, I asumme most of you have had a chance to read the Jimmy Young interview in this weeks Boxing News. It's a great read if you have not had the chance.

Anyway Jimmy clames to have had 66 fights not the listed 56 and he said his last fight was not in 1988 but in 1990 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Jimmy seems to have a great recollection for the details of his fight record so there may be a lot of truth in what he says. Maybe the extra fights were non-sanctioned? lets hope we can solve these questions over time.

Keep up the good work.

Jimmy Young/Chuck Wepner/Ron Lyle

Post by phil »

Yep, terrific piece.

Let's hope he writes a book

According to Wepner's (not updated) website, he was planning an autobiography.

Joe Bugner need to write one.........

Maybe RON LYLE could have a book written - WHY has no-one written a book on Jerry Quarry?

The 70s era would almost be complete then.

Thanks for the reply Phil, I agree there are a lot of great books out there to be written, although the Facing Ali book by Steven Brunt did interview Ron Lyle it was too brief and just wetted my aputite for more. I also think a book on the life of Leon Spinks would be worth a read.
