Well done Barry Morrison, knew he had the tools to beat Daws
Won it fairly easy for me! So much for all the guys on here so said Daws would be too much for the wee Scot

Can see your point, but its one of those where the fight was probably closer on the cards - round by round, than on the feel of the fight. I thought Morrison won round by round by about 2-3 points, but I am so glad he got the decision - cause overall I felt there was only one winner.Ben Carey wrote:I made Daws a 115-113 winner but wouldn't argue with Morrison's arm being raised. Barry unquestionably won the final round which sealed his win.
I just disagreed with SKY who didn't give Daws a round until the seventh!I thought the early rounds were closely contested.

Morrison impressed me. I thought he'd fade and run out of ideas after about six rounds. He survived a very rocky 8th round, I think Daws can complain with some justification that there had been no recognisable lull in the action when the ref broke them to put Barry's mouthpiece back in.stujones wrote:Can see your point, but its one of those where the fight was probably closer on the cards - round by round, than on the feel of the fight. Credit to Morrison though for coming back and finishing so strongly. I'd like to see a return.
How did you score it then? I didn't have any problems with Morrison getting it.Top Dog wrote:If you guys scored Daws the winner you should stop watching it cause you obviously know feck all about it. And if your the Carey who is a fighter, shame on you
Oh, and wouldn't you agree that the battering Morrison received in the 8th should have resulted in Daws being awarded the round 10-8?
I agree that Morrison took the 9th and the 12th - crucial rounds. However, if the 8th isn't classed as a 10-8 round then I don't know what is.Terence wrote:I'd go for the 10-9 in that round off the top of my head. Morrison took sustained punishment and was on the verge of being stopped and possibly would of had the ref not intervened when there was no obvious lull in the action to replace Morrison's gumshield. The Scot needed the break and he sure got one then.
He showed champion like qualities to get himself back together though.

I will have to view again, but I scored the 8th 10-9. I didn't think it was as big a round to call it 10-8. I think to win a round 10-8 without scoring a KD, you have to be winning all of the round and dominate for the other periods. I think Morrison threw and landed enough desperation punches to salvage that.
To go back - I scored round 12 of Hearns vs Leonard II a 10-9 round to Leonard (I know many have called it 10-8). Hearns did well in the opening 45 secs-1 minute. Round 5 I scored 10-8 to Leonard - Ray shaded the first minute and had Hearns on queer street for the other two minutes.
I thought Morrison won 6 of the first 7 rounds, he obviosly lost the 8 the, but I thought he came back well in the 9th, 11th and 12th. Even if the 8th was a 10-8 round, Morrison done more than enough not to have to worry about pulling it out in the last. Parris should be flogged in the street, twat that he is.Ben Carey wrote:How did you score it then? harrygreb, i thought my post was quite gracious actually
You don't rate Daws as highly as I do, simple as that. I thought Daws would beat Morrsion, but Barry produced the goods by the sounds of it so the right man won the fight. After 15 fights and already being a southern area and British champion I still think Lenny has lots left to offer.
Also, you have a jab at someone for scoring for Abraham, but your "one of those" (like me) who scored for Lynes over Sarmiento. A lot of people thought Colin lost that one. Chance are, none of these bouts mentioned ended up with bad decisions, but you're always going to getting different interpretations.

like you said in a previous post, butch, lenny looks the dogs b...s in the gym but you dont win fights there. i still think he has something to offer the brit L/welter scene but i do not think it is as champ.
we can all have differing opinions but abraham got his head, especially the left side of it, boxed off. i began watching that bout supporting arthur so i have no issues other than my judgement of a boxing match. i used this in my opinion of the lynes sarmiento bout as well, but i admit a little partisanship in that one.
nice waffling on with you once again.

From what I hear Daws-Morrison was a good fight, Daws had his moments too and some thought he won. Morrison's a decent boxer so why so quick to stick the boot in? The main reason I rate Lenny is due to his form on "the night" when it counts. Beating Hall, Lynes, Wright in impressive fashion (IMO) and even losing to Morrison in British title fight is ALL good form. The ABA title and Four Nations champion speak for themselves too. What's Colin got in his trophy cabinet to match this list?
I said after Daws beat Ben Hudson he'd win a British title and he did. That's not bad going IMO.
