witter vs morua short report

witter wins by 9th round tko in what was to be honest a dull fight. first round was very slow with moura suprisingly backing off , morua did land a few jabs which were the cleanest punches of that round. from round 2 onward it was all witter , the better punches although only in spurts were landed by the man from bradford , it looked as if it would end with a boring points win by witter but to his credit he landed some massive punches that made the referee stop the fight in the ninth.

witter didnt seem to pleased with his performance but the crowd seemed happily enough with the result. witters promoter said that he will be meeting the winner of the title eliminater between vivian harris and juan lazcano then if sucessful diego corrales as prelimenary talks have been made with golden boy promotions and us tv.

at the end my card read 79-73 to witter

If Lazcano can get past Harris, I think he could upset Witter. I think team Witter would prefer Harris - who has stamina worries and some doubts on his chin.

Lazcano is limited, but he WILL fight as Morua promised but didn't. His style is the most awkard for Witter.... its similar to Hatton's.

Agree with the report, but I did think Witter was tiring and I was alarmed at his inability to throw the punches in bunches untill the 9th.

I had bet on it to go over 10.5 rounds, he couldn't have waited a while longer?

Witter was robbed of a flashy finnish by the referee who gave the standing 8. Are standing 8s still legal? They shouldnt be they don't help the fighter.

Witter proved allot tonight. He proved he can pace himself and fight hard and score a knock out late on. He proved his defense is top notch.

Morua fought a very defensive fight and was not ambitous. This hurt Witter because Witters a counter puncher, if Morua fought aggressively Witter would have had more countering opportunities. Still Witter hasn't lost a round in 2 World Title fights, and hasn't been really hit (well he took about 1 full shot from Morua) which shows hes doing the business.

Bring on Harris/Lazcanno/Corrales. I'm hoping for Corrales........Witter NEEDS SOMEONE WHOS COMING TO WIN TO LOOK GOOD

Yes, and every boxing trainer in the world knows that as well, which is going to be a problem for Junior. He's going to have to work out another way of looking good, because nobody from here on in is going to just stand there and let Witter unload.

Exactly states, which is what I have been saying for years.

I'm pleased Witter won, but it was never in doubt, it was a poor match up from the outset.

the referee is allowed to administer a count, if, in his opinion, the ropes had pervented a fighter from 'touching down' after a scoring punch had landed. this was the case in this instance, so it was good refereeing.....

One thing about Witter is he's got more stamina than Hatton.

Witter looked in terrific shape and did some good - if awkward - boxing. He hadn't had mush sparring (says 8 rounds!) to prepare, what with training being over the Christmas period. He doesn't take his world title or his success for granted - unlike Hatton, who lets himself get in horrendous shape - and it's good to see him back to scoring KOs. Remember, this way a guy who beat Cosme Rivera and Carlos Maussa.

Did Sky say that Morua was talking with the Barrera camp? He clearly saw himself as Barrera versus Naz, but it backfired!
