Valuev vs Mcline- does McCline have a chance?

Post by boxerrob2005 »

Anyone think the upset is possible. Personally i see Valuev stopping McCline in about 10 rounds. McCline is a big heavyweight too but if Byrd can out-box and out-fight him i dont see how Mcline wins unless he lands a serious hayemaker but i dont think he has the power. I wonder if sky will show some highlights during the break between britain and america fights?

McCline seems to mentally capitulate under pressure.

He has the physical presence and tools to outpoint ol' Frankenstein, but if he is still folds under pressure I can see him getting clubbed to the canvas in the later rounds of the fight.

Can't see McCline being the one that bursts Valuev's bubble.
McCline looks good when the fight is going his way, but goes into his shell when he thinks he can't work an opponent out, as in the Klitschko, Brock and Lawrence.
I'd go along with your prediction of Valuev by late KO.

No chance for McCline I reckon - he reminds me of the nervous lion out of wizard of Oz.

Around 600 pounds combined these two - 7 foot and 6.5 foot

If both fell over the ropes and landed on you ringside....I think that'd be curtains.

Starts at same time as Witter show, 10pm Uk time and it's on ARD German tv.

I believe the fight is in that hotbed of world Boxing...Switzerland! I back the beast by late KO, McCline is so timid for big guy the nervous lion quip is spot on. Valuev TKO 10 McCline.

Just looking at the odds and for Valuev to win in the 10th its 14/1 , to win in the 11th 18/1 at Stanjames.

Might have a few quid on them, make it a bit more interesting.

I do question Valuev's power. Took long enough to stop Barrett, and he had Barrett down in rd 1. I just don't think McCline can compete physically, nor mentally. Looks to be long & drawn out.

I think Valuev lacks power but he clearly has deceptively good stamina for a giant and of course excess strength. His leaning down constantly on Monte Barrett must surely have contributed to Barrett getting so gassed and then just getting clubbed to defeat. So i suppose one could argue Valuev gets KO's via "accumulation" in a backhanded sort of way.

I agree with TerribleTerry and MightyWarrior, McCline is just too timid. When faced with anyone remotely dangerous he seems to give it up. At times in his career he's made Audley look like Holyfield.

Count me on the Bandwagon, such as it is. McCline doesn't have the heart to take it to a real challenge. I don't think Valuev is that great, but but he's a seriously huge lump, and he has decent fundamentals. I suspect that will be enough to see off Jameel. I'm saying Valuev TKO between 10 and 12.

Both weighed in Valuev 322.3 & McCline 268.3

I pick Valuev on points or even late TKO. I think that it will actually help Valuev that he is facing someone near his own height for a change. Surely having to punch down all the time must lessen his power a little?

Valuev wins TKO 3.

McCLine injured his left knee when throwing a right hand over the top and couldn't continue.

Disappointing show. Couldn't even understand the translator on the mic, too many people speaking at once. Thought Valuev was on his way to winning a decision, shame.

Any footage links of McCline bailing out? Talk about a disappointing ending.

McCline actually looked good in the fight and was catching Valuev with quite a few combinations, his speed was causing Valuev a few problems before the unsatisfactory ending. McCline tried to get back on his feet but was clearly in pain and fell again.
He was diagnosed with a tendon tear in his left knee that caused the kneecap to pop out of place

Nice one mate. Shame about the ending, McCline seemed to be doing okay up until then, finding a home for some meaty right hands and showing surprising speed particularly in the third before his injury.

Who should the Beast fight next? I would have thought it has to be a unification, no more "contenders" let's sort out this division please!
