Froch-Kessler?

Post by Autobarn »

Just read this month's BM. In McNeilly's piece ' 7 for 2007' Froch says he wants to get Kessler over in Nottingham. Obviously Kessler has to get by Andrade, but I have faith in "Simply The Best's" ability.

Any thoughts on this? Kessler will have made a madnatory when he's TKO'd Andrade's face into a bruised, bloody mess. Anyone think Froch-Kessler is possible? Would anyone get worked up over this matchup?

Kessler wins easily, Froch has absolutely no defence that ramrod jab would and right hand would destroy him.

Kessler wins this one big IMO,

However with Calzaghe and Lacy unlikely I think this would be one of the better fights for Kessler to take at SM he's already beat Mundine it's too early for Bute. Don't see why he'd want to come to Nottingham though, unless the UK coverage got him a bit more known to the public, could add some pressure on Calzaghe to fight him.

I have very mixed feelings about this possible matchup.

On one hand I'd hate it. Froch has accomplished NOTHING so far. In no way does he deserve a shot at Kessler more than at least 5-10 other (better) fighters at SMW. If it happens and it's not a mandatory defence, Kessler should rightfully be critizised as much as Calzagher for taking on worthless opposition.

On the other hand I'd love for someone to shut Froch TFU once and for all. If it gives Kessler a bit of bad press, I'd almost be willing to accept it to see Froch beaten to a pulp. For that matter i could almost forgive Calzaghe for taking yet another crap fight if he'd only rid us of Froch.

Froch has no business whatsoever fighting the top-dogs. He's shown nothing. His last opponent was rated around 127 SMW by Boxrec ahead of their fight.
Only reason he gets noticed is his utterly annoying big mouth. Noone aught to be rewarded with a big fight for merely being a loudmouth. But it's about time Froch's mouth got shut.

Someone....Anyone....pleeeeeeease do it.

Froch is up there with Andrade, imo. Better boxer, but less ring smarts (hence his lack of defence). Certainly not a walk-over for Kessler, but certainly no less challenging than fighting (the recently annointed) 'top contender' Andrade.

You normally get a shot when you win an eliminator - unless you're called Sam Peter, LOL

The boxrec forum members have Andrade at #5, and Froch at #9. Btw, I've never heard that lack of defence makes someone a "better boxer".

His offence is less one dimensional and he tends not to give any great thought to defence. More skills, less thought. Anyway, 3 thru 10 in SM are much of a muchness... give or take. :TU:

Seconded. Froch is made to measure for Kessler. Anyone who can't slip a single right hand is going to have problems against a technically correct fighter.

I think it would be an interesting matchup, I'd love it if the fight was made.

No way Kessler comes to Nottingham though, they would have to pay mega-money for that. Can't see it happening myself.

Yet here were plenty of Calzaghe cynics, who felt his weird style, unorthodox punch delivery & openness to right hands would be his undoing...Not saying Froch would win, not at all, but it would be good to have Kessler over here for a voluntary defence.

Agree with all the above. Froch and his ugly, poor mans-Roy Jones style can't win in world class company with technically sound boxers. Kessler bombs him out. But why on earth does Froch think he's in the position to drag world champions into Nottingham to face HIM?? Who the f#ck does he think he is, De La Hoya????

I think Froch may get that idea because just looking at different boxing-forums, a surpricingly large amount of british posters are quickly bying into his BS.

Kessler will absolutely destroy Froch if this fight is made. Froch's face will resemble a Margherita pizza at the end of the fight (like the majority of Kessler's opponents) :TU:

Kessler has great boxing ability, he jabs like Winky Wright and punches FAR harder than Wright. He's a nightmare opponent for any Super Middleweight or Light Heavyweight.
