A real shame for Jones, I don't think he could have possibly put anything more into that performance. I thought that the Italian was just a level above, and it took Jones everything he had just to make the fight competitive.

Having said that, Jones didn't help himself when he had Piccarillo staggered early on. I get the feeling that someone like Moore wouldn't have stood off as Jones did. In fact I think that Moore stands a better than even chance, home or away, of getting a win over Piccarillo if the fight is made. The Italian started slowly, and if he can be hit often, and rocked once or twice by Jones, then it's more than reasonable to suggest that Moore could win. It'd be a good fight too.

Man I'm gutted Jones lost.

He had the Italian hurt and even cut him and marked up his nose but Jones didn't use the opportunities and was too easy to hit even on the jab which he had the advantage.

It wasn't one sided though at least.

Maybe Jones punch resistance would be better If he moves up In weight, whats a 6ft odd fighter doing making 11stone?

Piccarillo was just as basic but kept his denfence better.

Maybe, Ricardo Mayorga wasn't so shot when he fought DLH after all.

Not saying this shows Piccrillo is world class or anything, of course it does - but it was a good fight and both guys did better than I thought. Heartbreaking a bit for Michael, but I could see it happening. Jim analysis was spot on - even in rounds he was winning, he was still fighting at the champions pace and he looked tired from the half way point.

Piccrillo was winning, but Jones did deserve to see the final bell.

Anybody know the cards at the time of the stoppage.

What a game effort from Jones.

He might still have a British title winning effort in him on that form.

It's true to say that Michael couldn't have given any more and was beaten by a premium EBU champion. Piccirrilo timed his tactics to perfection.

Yes they did repeat it, thanks, end of panic!.

Feel sorry for Micheal, he showed a lot of guts and fought a good fight, I think he can still take a lot of positives from this fight and theres still good fights out there for him...

That was cruel. The least he deserved was to finish the fight after that effort.

I Reckon Jones could win the Britis title based on that performance, just as long as he steers clear of Mooresy! :)

Not sure if Moore has vacated.

Would Jones still have to fight in an eliminator against Woolcombe? Or have their recent losses changed things?
