I wish Channel 4 would repeat FIGHTERS (the best boxing film ever, a docu) and REAL MONEY, a film with Jimmy Flint with a non professonal cast that improvised many of the scenes, to make it raw and real.

BEST INSIGHT I EVER SAW WAS A SHOW IN 1991 SEVEN SPORT ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

IT FOCUSSED HOW A LOW KEY 4 ROUND NOVICE FIGHTER PREPARED FOR HIS BOUT...

IN CONTRAST TO A 12 ROUND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT..

THE FIGHTERS AND PROMOTERS FEATURED WERE THE DUVAS , EVANDER HOLYFIELD AND HIS FIGHT WITH LARRY HOLMES AT CAESARS PALACE IN LAS VEGAS..

IN CONTRAST TO A 20 YEAR OLD SHANNON BRIGGS , MIKE MARLEY HIS MANAGER TRAINING IN NJ FOR A FIGHT IN TROY NY.

GREAT PROGRAM.......... I STILL HAVE IT ON TAPE..

ITS STRANGETO THINK THAT SHANNON IS NOW ACTUALLY A VERSION HOLDER HIMSELF.

Was that the one in which Briggs met Ali and when Ali was asked what nickname he would have given Briggs he replied 'Pretty lady!'
...would you be interested in swapping a fight/doc for a recording of this as I didnt manage to record it at the time... :box: :TU:

Did anyone see a doc called "Taxman" I missed it but have been told it was quite interesting, It's about Brian Cockerill who taxes drug dealers, a big fella from up north.

Was that the bloke who was a rival to (I think) Lee Duffy?

Anyone know if the Cuban thing is the same programme that was shown on Grandstand ahead of the one of their amateur shows (might have been England vs Cuba) - Steve Bunce involved. Its about the same length.

I think he was a rival at one time, and Viv Graham also was a rival of Lee duffy, all feared men.

Jimmy Flint is nuts. I'm sure I saw him in a documentary once, where he said that some film company asked him to be a fight co-ordinator for some film. He said the leading man tried to take a liberty so he chinned him, or something along those lines. It might have even been the guy wasn't paying attention, but either way he got chinned for his troubles.

According to the doc he was a rival of Lee Dufy and later a business partner after they had a fight and gained respect for eachother.

That Cockerill looked as mad as a box of frogs in the documentary! Still a dangerous looking bloke, despite knocking on a bit..
