Brian Magee will challenge for the British light-heavyweight title before the summer.
Magee's on course for a shot at the Lonsdale belt after his impressive points victory over Andrew Lowe on Friday night in their British title eliminator in Dagenham.
British and Commonwealth champion Peter Oboh is to defend his title against Tony Oakey, probably in March, and then the winner must face Belfast man Magee.
"I don't care who I have to fight. Whether it's Oakey or Oboh bring them on because I'm ready," said Magee, who simply had too much class for Lowe.
Magee's coach Harry Hawkins is eagerly anticipating a clash with Oboh or Oakey but is adamant that the former IBO super-middleweight champion will not be hanging around on the sidelines.
Hawkins said: "Oboh hasn't fought in ages, it's almost two years and if he doesn't defend his title soon then we'll be asking the British Boxing Board to look at the situation.
"If he can't get it on with Oakey soon then I don't see why Brian can't fight for the vacant title."
I think Magee should look maybe futher a field as a Light Heavy. Thomas Ulrich is a very beatable EBU champion. If Matthew Barney (whats happening to him) can essentially beat him, then so can Magee.
Harry Hawkins comments are crazy. Why should the Board allow Brian to fight for the vacant title when Oboh is the champion and none of these guys want any part of him which is why he has been inactive.
They are all jockeying around trying to have Oboh stripped or even pay him off to vacate becasue they are too scared to actually fight him. Only Oakey had the balls to face him until Oboh got cut in training but as for the others they should beat the champ to become the champ.
Oboh is ready to fight Magee as of now so why doesn't Hawkins get his Promoter to make an offer and he won't have to wait on the sidelines at all. Oboh will fight in Belfast no problem.
Magee and his team should either shit or get off the toilet.
