seconds out have had a press conference announcing their new screening programme, subscription will be about 5 quid per month and hopefully eventually it will be a show per week on there.

nice to see robert waterman back in the limelight. he is a lovely man. after his alledged departure from FA due to their outgoings to ricky hatton, it is great to see robert has found a route back into the game.

Yeah, good luck with it - interesting venture. Not one that I will be paying for - not convinced of the technology yet and prefer to watch the fights in my own time in the comfort of my own room. However, I do think its the way forward.

A dearer subcriptions but with the punter then having the ability to be able to transfer onto DVD and I'll be more interested.

I still have Woods vs DeLisle 1 on my PC, all it is though is like flash pictures.

I agree with you on that Stu. Sure the internet can improve accessibility, but I prefer to see fights in my warm living room on a TV/DVD, than on a little box on my PC - that I'm not 100% sure will work - in the cold as fvck spare room.

Well, pretty soon, people will have their PC's all linked up to HD TV screens in any case, it's a matter of time. The technology already exists, it's just not cheap enough to be mainstream yet.

Precisely, an as it becomes availible they days of paying however much for a sky sports subscription and not even being sure they'll show the big fights from one month to the next will come to an end. What you what when you want it is the future for television.

As has already been said , soon there will be internet through your TV's and PC's will be intergrated into them.
This is the future of broadcasting , and its no bad thing that some boxing is already available through it, I'm definatly going to get the Klitschko v Austin fight , i think that will be a PPV broadcast, and if its only £5 its not bad value.
Plus Big fight German cards usually have a good undercard.
Got to give it a go for that price.

It's the future (along with garlic bread) but i will only dip my toe in once quality improves like you fellas said already. Staring at a computer screen watching a grainy small image which is always going blocky or "buffering" whatever the hell that means is so frustrating

According to Robert Waterman in the interview I read, he said the quality is as good if not better than broadcast quality, the rest is down to your processor, memory and graphics card if that is the case, as the limit on the quality is obviously able to set in the settings of windows media player or whichever client you use.

The only problem is, if the technology gets integrated into the TV's themselves, then you lose control over what you are watching, as the technology can be adapated so you can only download content from 'regular' providers.

In 6 months, when they drop in price again, I'm going to buy a HDTV with a port for my PC.

The day is fast approaching where you will only pay for precisely what you want. At the moment people like sky charge you for a package of channels which contains a whole raft of shite along with the stuff you want, like endless re-runs of the hulk TV series, or old episodes of Mr and Mrs. Can someone explain to me what sort of person wants to watch editions of gameshows from 20 years ago, aside from Blankety Blank of course, which was sheer class, both in the wogan days and the Les Dawson era.

I have sometimes, when bored watched the snooker on the BBC using their website - pictured quality is like broadcast quality with them. So is it my computer or the technology of other sites that is the problem?

Graphic cards and shit like that, haven't got a clue what mine is like.

Les Dawson is funny as f*ck in that, Blankety Blank must have had the worst prizes ever.

Also Rising Damp is being shown again, one of the best characters in a sitcom in Rigsby.

looks like things are moving in the right direction. However I've never managed to get a video stream working - I obviously haven't got this or that setting right and don't know how. I 'saw' Karmazin-Spinks with sound only on 1 of the streaming sites.

I have to say, this is shit news for DVD fight collectors/traders, unless the fights do end up on TV eventually, for instance Cunningham-Wlodarczyk. I would hate it if all fights just ended up in little boxes for download on the internet. I'd just fvcking hate it.

Nothing - not Sky Box Office nor HBO PPV - is immune to techno gremlins but SecondsOut's technology is at the cutting edge. In his otherwise very good article in Boxing News Claude Abrams wrote that he was disappointed by the quality of a MaxBoxing PPV. But SO is using vastly better tech than Max does.

Think about it - Sky cannot screen Klitschko's next three fights as they've signed over the right to SO.com. Would they really do that only for the K2 brand to be linked to a f-up??

Could I make a suggestion?

How about setting up a temporary password which is there for one month, for people who want to log in and trial it and see what the quality is like? Then after a month you can delete the password.

It would go a long way to abnegating people's fears about the quality issue. Companies like homechoice already deliver their TV content through a broadband connection, and Sky's picture quality is far from exceptional, and they have not rolled out HD across the board yet and won't have done for some time.

The era of triple play services is here now, and video content via broadband will soon become the norm, not cutting edge.

For a fiver a month, provided the content remains high quality world title fights, I'll be happy to sign up, once the bank sends my new debit card that I've been waiting 6 weeks for that is!
