Berry Butler is a Light Heavyweight! Not a Cruiserweight!!

Post by professor »

I thought we had already established that Berry Butler is a Light Heavyweight, why has he been moved to Cruiserweight? This makes no sense to me ? Because he weighed a quarter of a pound over 175?? Why was he moved like that, are you guys just messing with him or what?

There is a long-standing debate between editors about how weight classes should be listed. So it's not unusual for a fighter's weight class to change back and forth periodically. No need to take it personally - when he fights at 175 or less there will be no debate or changes.

Berry Butler

OK, I won't take it personally. Now explain why Berry Butler was moved to Cruiser when there are several other fighters who weighed in over 175lbs in their last fight still ranked at 175. Adrian Diaconu(180), Julio Gonzalez and William Joppy all weighed more than 175 in their last fights?? Why pick Berry out of the 175 pound fighters and leave the "Signed" fighters at 175? There is a bias here or you just pick guys at random and move them?

Because fighters' divisions are not set automatically, there is neccessarily a degree of randomness to how fighters get changed. When an editor sees a fighter who appears to be ranked incorrectly, the editor "fixes" it. The last editor who pays attention to weights noticed Butler last fought above the classic Lt. Heavy limit and so moved him to Cruiserweight. Perhaps the last person who looked at Diaconu's weight was not concerned with classic limits and so did not adjust the fighter. It's not personal.
