Well done Isaac Ward

Post by dondada »

Isaac Ward won the vacant Commonwealth super-bantam title earlier today.

Pleased for him. Showed great heart against Power last year.

Thanks for the report, stuff like this is what makes sites like BBN so important.

Pleased for Ward, although have to question how either should have been fighting for a vacant title. Sometimes the Commonwealth board have alot to be desired - great little title (still prestigious) but sometimes they seem to act like the WBU etc.

Anyway, enough criticism - well done Ward - lets have some big fights. Maybe the Pickering vs Callaghan loser would be a good start. Thinking the winner would maybe want to rematch with Hunter.

Was it this bill where there was rumours of a delayed showing on Five?

Well done Argie lad. A gentleman outside of the ring and now a champion in it. Hope he makes a few quid out of the belt now as there are some decent matches out there to be made.

No, Stu. The bill that will be shown delayed on Channel Five will be the Darren McDermott-Darren Rhodes one. That fight takes place on February 16, by the way.

Hey Tom, cheers for clearing it up.

Use all your contacts up there to make sure the promoter doesn't get shorted changed in terms of TV promotions. Last Five venture was awful TV.

By the way, the Dudley card is on the 15th. I put 16th by mistake.

Boxing does confuse me sometimes, while no disrespect to Isaac Ward how can it be that he can call himself the king of the superbantams in the commonwealth? how the hell did this fight be made for the title?, I mean Francis Miyeyusho who he boxed was even inside the bantamweight limit, the weight below! and has boxed as a flyweight. Like I said no disrespect to Argy who is a strong and determind fighter who obviously works hard and deserves every success he gets but lets get it right, he was stopped in a british bantamweight challenge, then goes up to superbantam & boxes a pumped up up flyweight who isnt as heavy as a bantam for the superbantamweight title?! :o these organisations must make their rules up as they go along. There is alot better and worthy boxers who could & should have boxed for the vacant commonwealth title (and who are actually the right weight !)

I agree Des, not taking anything away from Ward - he did what was asked of him - but I do have to seriously question how the fight was sanctioned and as you said it seems like the Commonwealth Council make up the rules as they go along. Not only with this fight, but also sanction short notice fights or fights with previously no high ranked fighters fighting for the vacant title.

Great little belt, but sometimes makes my blood boil.
