Financially, I suspect Ricky is very secure; he could retire tomorrow and it would not matter from a financial standpoint.
Ricky has stated all along that longevity is not on his side, coupled with the fact that he has to endure long training camps getting fit etc.
We've been hearing from Hatton for sometime that he wants the big fights, boxing the supreme fighters' etc. Will fights with boxers like Cotto, Mayweather actually come off.
There is now uncertainty as to when Hatton-Castillo will take place. I've heard June, then heard November. Nothing is concrete until an announcement of some sort is made.
If Hatton-Castillo does not happen until November, & Castillo does not stay active in the meantime, maybe he will struggle to make 140lbs, putting the fight in jeopardy?
I am a big Ricky Hatton fan & a massive boxing fan. The sport is brilliant and there's so much history in boxing.
After the showing of Hatton-Urango on BBC2 last week, Ricky stated he felt he had secured his legacy already. Has he? The win over Tszyu was superb. He has an unbeaten record, and has held many titles, but does these achievements secure a fighters' legacy?
I hope Hatton can get the real, super-fights against Cotto, Mayweather etc, etc. At least then he'll be given the chance to cement his place among boxing greats, regardless if he thinks hes got it already or not.
Will he be given the opportunity though?

ricky`s secured his legacy as a good fighter and a world champion from the u.k but his resume thus far aint going to have boxing historians waxing lyrical about him like they do robinson or greb.
infact i dont think he meant secured his legacy in that sense and if he did he`s light years away, more than that he`s deluded!
take tszyu from his rap sheet and its pretty thin reading.
most of his recent opponents had losses in their last 6 fights and the ones that didnt - collazo and urango, one i thought beat ricky and the other was a novice who ricky clung to like a limpet mine in the latter stages.
tackie - lost his last 2 before facing ricky and lost 3 out of his last 6! despite this he is held as a `signature` fight on ricky`s record.
pederson - apart from the weight thing he`d also lost a fight a couple of fights before facing ricky.
vilches - a draw and a loss in last 3 fights.
stewart - a loss a couple of fights before facing ricky.
oliveira - 2 losses and a draw in last 6 before facing ricky.
tszyu - great win against a fighter past his best but still a great win.
maussa - 2 losses in last 6 before facing ricky.
collazo - on a win streak but i thought hatton lost this fight.
urango - really a novice.
i know its easy to do a hatchet job on anyones record but there`s definately some big names missing from that record, and it seems rickys people do like rickys opponent to have a recent loss on their record.

Well you have said it already fellas. A good world titlist who beat the man, Tszyu, but didn't follow up with meaningful fights.
There is so much that happens peripherally with promoters, managers and t.v. networks that puts the whole sport at a loss for integrity. There is a limited timeframe for any given fight happening nowadays and I am afraid that Hatton has probably missed these fights. He is left in a LWW division devoid of big names, with an option to step up to WW, which IMO will be a mistake.
