Lewis vs Dascola

Post by dandantheweatherman »

Just caught Lennox Lewis vs Jorge Dascola on ESPN Classic (bit of an oxymoron showing this on that channel though!) whilst waiting for Ready Steady Cook to start. The ring looked pretty much the smallest I've ever seen! Anybody else catch/seen this one?

I think that fight is on every 5 minutes or so on ESPN 'Classics'

I was really excited about that channel at first and the possibilities of great clasic fights being shown with crisp picture qualilty, but in the main its Tyson, Marciano and Ali. Little variation, few 'rare' fights and seemingly no interest in anyone under 11st 6 (unless your name is Sugar Ray).

Poor fight on a disappointing channel to be honest.

Yeah but its got Superstars, Strongest man and Wrestling on it!

Anyway, Lewis in those days was so quick and sharp. I often think what would have happend had Manny had the 16 1/2 stone version of Lewis that first burst onto the scene.

Obviously, didn't do too badly as it was  but I just think that version of Lewis physically with the tactics and mind set applied by Manny and we might have had undoubtedly the greatest heavyweight of all time.

I used to watch Superstars religiously when I was a kid. Must look out for that. I've not seen much of the boxing on ESPN Classics, but I must admit it does like things are repeatedly very regularly!
