When did Gary Lockett vacate the WBU?
When?
Seems Paul Smith Is fighting for It now.

I asummed the answer was going to be "when Frankie realised he needed to call a bill a World championship bill" - however, the fight is on a bill with already at least 2 other world title fights on it (one geniune one).
So it seems odd - McDermott vs Lockett was supposed to be for the WBU title, but with McDermott out maybe there is some doubt about who Lockett will fight.

it isnt vacant, im fighting for the wbu international titlestujones wrote:I asummed the answer was going to be "when Frankie realised he needed to call a bill a World championship bill" - however, the fight is on a bill with already at least 2 other world title fights on it (one geniune one).

You should be embarrased just writing that joke of a belt down never mind fighting for it!Smigga wrote:it isnt vacant, im fighting for the wbu international titlestujones wrote:I asummed the answer was going to be "when Frankie realised he needed to call a bill a World championship bill" - however, the fight is on a bill with already at least 2 other world title fights on it (one geniune one).

I saw you medal at the commonwealths as an am and you are undoubetdly a good pro prospect - dont go down the route of these 5hitty meaningless titles - you dont need them.
I suppose its really FW at fault though - I wouldnt imagine you begged him for a shot at a bauble.
Whats wrong with Area, English, Commonwealth, British, European, World as a route these days??

Bring on Lockett v Paul smith. two come forward punchers, an exciting fight that may end in KO. Looks like this may happen in the future, may be if we are lucky. Although FW wouldnt want either to lose. I watch'd them both from ringside at the Newport Centre. Would be a tough fight, not sure who would win.
embarrassed? a payday is a payday?TerribleTerry wrote:You should be embarrased just writing that joke of a belt down never mind fighting for it!Smigga wrote:it isnt vacant, im fighting for the wbu international titlestujones wrote:I asummed the answer was going to be "when Frankie realised he needed to call a bill a World championship bill" - however, the fight is on a bill with already at least 2 other world title fights on it (one geniune one).

I understand you need to be kept busy and the opposition needs to be foreign to get the variety of styles you need to progress, but its meaningless titles like this that ruin boxing I reckon.Smigga wrote:embarrassed? a payday is a payday?TerribleTerry wrote:You should be embarrased just writing that joke of a belt down never mind fighting for it!Smigga wrote: it isnt vacant, im fighting for the wbu international title

No knock on you personally - I think you are a very good prospect and should be brought along at the right pace to fulfill you're potential but I would like to see these belts done away with and ten round 'international contests' brought back. That way the public arent duped into thinking a fight is something it isnt, a corupt organisation doesnt get a sanctioning fee and the alphabet soup is kept out of it.
Good luck anyway with however you face - it would be nice to see you on the televised segment of FWs bills instead of hid away down the bill
Have to agree I'm afraid.
Its one thing to say that you are fighting a good class of opposition.
Boxing fans are wise enough to look at a fighters record, not what he has round his waist.
Does any fighter really take one opponent over another because its a 'world' or 'international' title, never mind one from the WBU.
This shows how meaningless the WBU International Belt is - its between the Area and the English Title.
Good luck to you mate.

But to be fair that's not Smigga's fault. His hardly going to say i'll be up for the international contest but can we take away the title. It's the promotors who are trying to dupe the public and yes it's shit, but you can't blame the fighters like Smith for doing what they can for their development

As I said I dont blame Smigga or any other fighter for accepting a title shot or payday - they are certainly not to blame!Lenny Albert wrote:But to be fair that's not Smigga's fault. Its warren and his cronies who feel the need to hang a title around every fight to dupe the paying public into thinking its something its not.
Remember when Benn first started out at super middle? He had a series of ten rnd international contest agaionst the likes of Robbie Sims and Lenzie Morgan, if my memory serves me correctly. Good, hard fights to get him battle hardened at the weight.
No need to hang silly titles around the fights - just serve up a good learning opponent.
Paul Smith is one to watch, no doubt and I have been ringside for several of his fights so I know how good he can be; its the promoters who do my head in - not the lads who do the fighting!
