Joe Bugner fought Joe Frazier in 1973 in London, losing a thrilling 12-rounder on points. Ten years later, in 1983, he also lost on points to Marvis Frazier. Bugner thus became one of only two men in the history of boxing to have fought both a father and his son. The first to do so was Jersey Joe Walcott, who knocked out Phil and Harold Johnson 15 years apart in 1935 and 1950 respectively.
