i am looking for records of a semi-pro fighter that fought between 1939-1950.
i am told that he fought under the name of either "kid ruby" or "italian stallion". his true name was anthony ruberstell. this is very important to me to find out all i can . have been told that he fought the first man to knock joe louis off his feet. if anyone knows of this fighter it would be greatly appreciated for all info.
son of a fighter.

You are either amatuer or pro, not such thing as semi-pro in boxing.a l ruby wrote:

well i'm sorry if i offended you "cotown bomber". guess it means that possibly my father was "ametour". i just know a little bit about it, since my father only spoke very sparingly about some of his fights. but i am still interested in finding out all that i can about my father. so if anyone has any info about him it would be "GREATLY APPRECIATED". thanks for your reply.

Hey, Ruby. I'm an ex-fighter, and my father had been a fighter too.a I ruby wrote:

Based on some things you said I just felt to share this with you. In the old days in boxing and back at the time your father was a fighter rules and regulations were more loose then, and not as strictly enforced as today in boxing.
Back in the time when your father and my father were fighters rules and regulations were more loose then, and there were a lot of bouts in those days in which some amatuer boxers were having some bouts with professional boxers.
There had been some guys boxing amatuer that had some pro fights in which they had fought under another name other than their real name for reasons they were wanting to protect their amatuer standing. Things like that happened a lot back in those days.
What I'm saying is the rules were bend a lot back in the time when your father and also when my father was fighter too. Times were different then than today. I hope you are understanding what I'm trying to say
If your father fought pro and there can be no record found that could be the reason. I don't say that's the case, but only that it might be?
By the way back in the time when your father was a fighter, you really had to be salty (tough) to turn pro back in those days.
Back in the time your father was a fighter there was by far more talent in both the amatuer and professional ranks in boxing back in those days. There were some really tough guys in boxing in your father's time there.
