Re: adam fogerty
Not sure when he started playing rugby, but he definitely never boxed as an amateur (Barry Hugman's Yearbook states "no previous amateur club" by his pro record).guest wrote:did adam ever fight as an amater, when did he start playing rugby.
I saw him fight as a pro in the late Eighties and was quite impressed. He wasn't a wild-swinging heavyweight but controlled and precise with his punches. Terry Lawless was impressed enough to take him on, but Adam returned to rugby league after a few years with an excellent pro record of 18-1 (13). His only loss came in an early career six-rounder to Paul Lister, which Adam later avenged with a stoppage in a British title eliminator. It seemed a strange decision to leave boxing when he was so close to a British title shot. Interestingly, in Gavin Evans's biography on Naz (The Naseem Hamed Story), the author highlights a sparring session in which a fired-up Naz breaks Fogarty's nose. Maybe, as with Mark Epton (who decided to quit the sport after sparring with a young Naz), Fogarty quit for the same reason.
Just a thought.

I saw Adam perform on TV once, he played a fireman on Emmerdale Farm, not very interesting I know but true. ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
Re: adam fogerty
Adam was only 17 when he turned pro back in 1987. After three fights in this country, he had several pro fights in Australia, before resuming his pro career in this country. I believe his full record is on BoxRec.jimboy wrote:how old was foggo when he turn pro.

Re: adam fogerty
Yes, he was 18. My maths is shot. Fogerty was born in March 1969. He turned pro in April 1987.popeye wrote:He's was 18 when he first fought pro but good footy player.
