HORACE NOTICE- How far could he have gone?
Notice had British and Commonwealth titles, two kayos of Trevor Hughroy Currie, and the right connections with Lawless, Duff, and co.
Seemed a powerful fella, though not very fluid or technical. How good do you think he was? Could Francesco Damiani have beat him in a European title, or was he good enough to go right to a World title fight..?
Whats he up to these days, anybody know?

He would have gone further than Bruno and Gary Mason. I always saw him as our best prospect in the heavier divisions (cruiserweight/heavyweight). After all he did convincingly beat Anaclet Wamba who defended the WBC Cruiserweight world title around 15 times and retired as the champ.
Last time I met Horace he was working in the Security industry

Notice was a very skilled boxer, more than either Bruno or Mason, but his lack of size and KO punch might have stopped him reaching top level as a heavyweight.
But he would have been a world champion at cruiser, if the weight limit when he was boxing had been 200lbs.
Won a lonsdale belt outright in only 16 fights.

We are not comparing Notice with Bruno at heavyweight. At Cruisers Horace had the potential to achieve FAR more than what Bruno achieved at heavyweight. Horace was technically superior in every single way. He proved he was top class when he beat Anaclet Wamba. Like I said earlier Wamba later defended the WBC title over a dozen times and retired as the champ, who knows how far Horace could have gone ........Loynesy wrote:Horace Notice on a par with Frank Bruno? Is someone having a laugh. Bruno, for all his deficienies, won the WBC heavyweight title and was a Top 10 hw for a long period of time, Notice was nowhere near that level - far too small

Surprised people are picking Notice over Bruno and Mason et al.
Notice took 10 rds to outpoint Mike Jameson in London whereas Bruno went to the US in his backyard and bludgeoned him in 2.
All Notice seems to have is two kayos over Currie, one where he had to come off the floor, whereas Gary Mason and Derek Williams both demolished Currie swiftly.

Aye, but Tyson took 5 round to dispatch Jameson, that dont make Bruno better than Tyson does it :)
Horace was a good fighter, and I believe he would have equalled what Mason/Bruno achieved on the world scene.
His size would probably have been his downfall, but he was an acomplished boxer all the same.

I wouldn't pick Notice over Bruno, i was noting that he had better skills, moved better , more of a range of punches and put them together better.
But size and power would have been with Bruno, he probably would have outlasted Notice, would have been an interesting fight though.
Isn't Horace something to do with the BBBoC now?

Last i heard Notice was a London cabbie??
At the York Hall on the Howard Eastman fight in December I was aware of this huge terrifying dreadnaught waddling around ringside sweating like a big black t-rex. Didnt have a scoobies who it was until i read the Boxing News report (Claude Abrams gave a run down of the entire card despite the fact he only showed up half way though, interesting..) and it turned out to be Hughroy Currie! Had i known that i would have grabbed him for a photo shoot, although doubt i would have fit in the frame. He's a big boy these days!!
