Agreed 100% - awesome movie. Not seen 'Talledega nights' but i might order it later.

As a side
New rocky film, quite good (better than I expected)
Blood diamond - brilliant (as long as you dont mind lots of killing)
Pursuit of happiness - rubbish, cheesy as errrm.. something cheesy

ROCKY BALBOA- maudlin, miserable, soggy, manipulative. Oh yes, and Antonio Tarver pretends to be a great fighter. Nothing new there.

I didn't understand Hidden at all, what baffling tripe! DMS on the other hand is brilliant. Gary Stretch is well sinister, but not as sinister as Paddy Consadine.

Apparently the two kids are in cahoots. You see them talking on the steps at the end but then the dad passes by so what is that all about? French and Algerian relations? Read a chapter in a book you Frenchies. A thriller without thrills. Rivals L'Ennui for being pretentious crap, at least L'Ennui made me, unintentionally, laugh.

I could never get my head around Consadine as a para but he did a blinding job. Stretch was awesome (this is down to 'Talladega', I'm shouting it to my missus all the time), you can imagine sitting with Sonny in a pub hoping he does not flip-out but knowing he will.

Fook Vinny Jones and all that Mockney crap, Stretch put in the best sportsman turned actor performance I can recall. How they did not piss it laughing when he answered his door I'll never know.

Anyone got any film recommendations for an OT thread?

I've never watched a full Rocky film.

Great film, Paddy Considine is fantastic in it, and I loved the twist at the end...

Paddy Considine was also excellent in 'my summer of love' he specialises in the broody-thousand-yard-staring-but-deep-down-decent-loon.

I loved the bit where the girl came on to him and he took the bait, then suddenly realised he had been deluding himself all along, and that he was a complete and utter fraud, then went back to his prayer meeting, lost it, started smashing up furniture and told every to fook off, cracking!

I quite liked it myself, very nicely shot, and the posh girl was well fit.

I like him in some things but anchorman was self-indulgent tosh.

However, he was class in Old School, which is one seriously funny film.

Anyone else think he's this era's Chevvy Chase?

Nah, each to their own I suppose, I really enjoyed it but then again I am as shallow as a paddling pool and have a juvenile sense of humour..

Surely we have all used this line since seeing the film; I know I have..

I watched DEAD MAN'S SHOES last week. Brilliant film. It's like a social realist drama cum inverted slasher film. Considine, in his gas mask and boiler suit, just waiting till they all get pissed before giving them a shock. It's sinister and funny, the way he could've slit any of their throats the 1st time but he kicks things off by writing NOB on someone's back, putting clown make up on Stretch etc.

Really devastating film. Some of the villains are likeable and the twist was a real kick in the teeth.

As opposed to the Mockney Wankster films, there was no posturing/self congratulary, self reflexive dialogue/showiness.

Stretch was good. Considine was terrific. IMO Toby Kebbel, who plays the backward kid, was brilliant as well.

Shane Meadows is an interesting director for boxing followers. Twenty-Four Seven is boxing themed. There's a short film on the 24/7 DVD with Considine playing a boxe, which is meant to be good.

Can't wait for the new Meadows film, THIS IS BRITAIN.

Dead Man's Shoes is a great film. Totally agree that Stretch did a fantastic job.

My favourite scene is when Paddy (best British actor out there for my money) is at the bus stop and the idiots all pull up in the car. Stretch gets out and confronts him... Having seen almost all of Meadows' films I really didn't know how it was going to go. The two men do a great job in this exchange.
