As I said at the time, I dislike him out of sheer frustration, given he seems capable of producing so much more in a boxing ring with his physique and ability, but often chooses not to. If he can fiddle his way through a fight and sneak a points win, he will do. The paying public - who pay to be entertained after all - don't matter to him.scurlaruntings wrote:ah come on dude cut the guy some slackis he a personal enemy of yours?? do u know him personally?? or are u just a boxing fan..be cool this is just a forum for educated views.lets be adult about it n talk like men.

i agree with u wholly johnny is a big frustration to watch n doesnt seem to want to be in the ring.his last draw was very debateable seeing as his challenger was a blown up welter..n his victory over sellers was a small travesty as johhny tasted the canvass n generally lost all of the rnds due to his inactivity up until he KO`ed sellers with a hail mary.johhny looks the part but i think mentally he could be shotbennie wrote:As I said at the time, I dislike him out of sheer frustration, given he seems capable of producing so much more in a boxing ring with his physique and ability, but often chooses not to. I don't know the guy personally he's seems okay to me and intelligent.
BUT, in my opinion he is the only world champion I have ever seen who I think is actually scared. Having fought myself I have the utmost respect for anyone who fights, but for me (and I won't beat around the bush here) Johnny Nelson is a wimp.
He's got so many advantages of people in his devision, but he is scared of taking any punches, so much so that he'd rather run and panic than take on to land another.
Not saying ALL the skills are there, good power, excellent speed, good technique offensively. But there's no doubt he was scared of Sellars.
He was so lucky in the fight, it was a lucky punch against a chinny fighter, to say that he planned to fight like that was riduculous and an obvious lie. So was him actually saying he thought he beat Jones, The main secondsout journalist (for the USA site) said it was the worse decision of 2002 and I agree, Jones won by at least 7 points.
People talked (when Glenn and Ian) of that "tremendous" change of style against the "dangerous" Dominguez, a fight he was losing. No, it was Dominguez who was out of condition and run out of gas, again Nelson was lucky.
As for Warring and De Leon - that also just shows he'd rather lose (or draw) than risk a cloud in the face. We all know about Ingle not allowing fighters to hit in the head and I think this is the downfall, you've got to learn to keep your composure when hit. This cost Esham against Jon Jo Irwin, Hamed was another who seemed uncomposed when hit, and alot of Ingle's guys (more the average chin) seem to produce chinnyish fighters (Hide, Reid, Graham, Rhodes, and I still think Nelson) - there are probably others. I think its down to the fact they don't practise absorbing head shots in sparring.
The only time Nelson showed No fear was against Thompson, that was brilliant, but that seems to be a one-off.
This is not supposed to be downgrading to Nelson the person, and I wish him all the best in his present situation. Just merely offering my opinion of him as a "fighter" which I'm afraid isn't much.
I hope that with the situation he decides to hang them up and stick to the horses.

Alright people, i may have been banned i don't know.
I had a bit of a run in with Spud over the hypocrisy of the bannings 'cos of the Johnny Nelson thread...You can say what you like about anyone you like in the General, but the British board is different it seems.
I thought it was all sorted though via a PM with Spud , but now i can't get in to ESB messages?
I suppose a forum is only as good as it's posters so this will do! Isn't this 'British' boeard new? I don't recall a British board at Boxrec last week when i popped in here - or did i miss it?

so it comes down to the problem they think i have somethin to do with their board problems, that is the most rubbish i have ever heard and i would like to see their prove,
its unfair people seem to listen to guests rarther than question me in person and i would answer your questions if you got in contact with me,
real deal is not a sweet and innocent man. I have also been banned but before i went i was let into a bit, mr chris real deal is a schemer and boxrec should be very wary of him he has not just got up to his tricks on eastside but on other forums too. let us see if he gets a knock on his door.
Is there any reason why we should take someone posting as "guest" seriously?

Agreed.
Real Deal is probably the only banned who hasn't said anything downgrading or questioned the management - yet, from what I have read only 3 of the posters who made a contribution here are still on the banned list - all the rest have been readmitted. Which is good news.
Dirt Sugar's was particularly suprising, given some of the comments said over here. Lesson looks like they have been learned.
The lad should be given the chance to hear himself out - this guest character could be anyone.

Hello Kev,
The reasons were explained.
Real Deal
From the information I received, I and others made the comments they did. However, an apology has been made and I see you are now posting on ESB again.
I have and never will have making an apology when I have got something wrong and I note some of the very people who have made their harsh and to the point comments on here are now posting back on ESB.
Personally I think everyone has learnt a few lessons and as such it is time to move on!!
I will say it again ...
All the very best boxrec for the future ... you have some very knowledgable posters on here and to you and them ...
HAPPY POSTING!!!

Agreed, now lets hope the momentum gained/regained on BOTH sites can continue.Jubbly wrote:Hello Kev,

BTW, I personally think its great to see that both the British moderators on ESB have posted on here, I know you guys have your priorities but I hope BOTH can continue in the same vein. After all, British boxing is what BOTH forums are promoting. I'm sure there some excellent posters over at ESB that will never post here, and vice versa - so lets hope the guys who do write on both continue to do so.
As Spud/Jubby inferred there is room for the two of us.

I can't even access the homepage to look at the articles (well I can but not from my primary internet connection), how petty is that?
You will be back on if you wish??
If you wish to have a pop say what you want by PM is that fair??
Stu Jones ... I will say again there is room for both forums do you want to come to join us??
