ROUND BY ROUND FROM WEMBLEY, HARRISON-SPROTT AND UNDERCARD
ROUND BY ROUND FROM WEMBLEY, HARRISON-SPROTT AND UNDERCARD
WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS..... wtf is that on Katsidis' head? Achilles? wtf?
Round 1: 10-7 Katsidis. Earl looks overwhelmed already, good work from both but Earl has not taken them as well. Earl down twice.
Round 2: Earl goes down, Towel goes in, vann ignores it, then earl puts katsidis for a standing eight!!! 10-9 katsidis (im not sure how to score it but disregarding knockdowns its his round)
round 3: earl cracks him right at the start, all action again, tied eachother up a bit, katsidis with in close uppercuts, earl returns with same, both throwing big, earl looks more settled in now, but katsisdis still looking more pwerful. vann calls time out for low blows on earl with 45secs left. round ends at range, earls slips/gets pushed at end of round, then another low blow, vann takes a point. 9-9 round due to low blow

round 4: earl under cosh from start again, earl landing too, but katsidis seems to have more power. another push on earl, no KD. katsidis eye swelling and reddening. big punches, most hitting... big exchange in kats corner, earl on ropes, earrl stays up big counters.. kat looks tired, trading now with earl on ropes, vann watches closely but earl is still in this 10-9 katsidis
round 5: earl is vut, vann giving it time, still throwing big at eachother, , good feint then punch from earl, earl teeing off, both fighters leave themselves open, kat working well off the jab, tripling up
good left from earl over guard, earls turn top use the jab, kat tiured, one min left, earl backed up in kats corner, noth firing into eachother, most all to the head, big big right from earl kat solid as a rock. 10-9 katsidis, he is firing more cleanly, he has earl into ropes a lot, he does not looked bothered by punches as much as Earl does by his

Wow what a fight.... Earl is certainly the domestic version of Arturo Gatti - nearly always is hurt in his fights.
I'm not going to slate anyone involved in this fight - but maybe if Johnny Eames saw how hard Kastidis was blowing at the end of the 5th, maybe he wouldn't have been pulled out. Thought Earl was begining do better, the only round he won on my card was the 5th and he certainly seemed less tired. But he had taken a bit of a pounding and I'm not sure how much more anyone could have taken with serious lasting damage.
I don't think we are going to find a better fight this year in this country.
The Micky Vann ignoring the towel will go down as controvesial.... what does anyone think of it. I thought Earl looked pretty bad at that stage and Vann should have listened to the advice. Definately did think at the begining that it definately felt like an home and away fighter there.... Not sure if all those blows that Kastisdis got called up with were low - and at one stage the ref called Kastisdis up after Earl was hurt.
Also, how in the hell did McKenzie think Earl won the 3rd round inspite of the point deduction. Kastidis was giving him a kicking. McKenzie scored it 10-8 to Earl! The only round Earl won was the 5th.

What a great fight.
Katsidis just too strong and powerful for Earl. Like Duke said he really turns those hands over at times to get max power.
I have to agree that Katsidis will struggle in better company at world level. He sets an unrealistic pace which means it is do or die. Very exciting fighter though.

well i did not give him a round tbh, but yeah he looked more settled in the 4th and 5th, but for his safety, maybe i would have pulled him out. at no point did he look like he was bothering Katsidis, but Earl looked hurt by every big punch...... yeah the 3rd i gave 9-9. the first low incident i thought was borderline too.stujones wrote:Wow what a fight.... lets face it tho -- we want to see those fighters dont we? thats why we like this stuff, for the action, not the cageynissSticknMove wrote:What a great fight.

new word invented there lol, feel free to use it
Agree with all of that Stu. Earl could well have been stopped when the towel went in, in fact he probably should have been. The Low blows really weren't that dodgy either, not in my opinion. I do think it should have gone on for at least another round: yes, Early was miles behind on my card, but I do think Katsidis was starting to slow. Still, amazing fight.stujones wrote:Wow what a fight.... Earl is certainly the domestic version of Arturo Gatti - nearly always is hurt in his fights.

I agree with Kilburn though. As soon as Katsidis fights a world class lightweight who throws a straight right, he's in a world of trouble. I'd certainly watch him again though.
Kastidis was GONE in the second, M1kee50 - think had that happend in a round were Earl was a bit clearer himself he might have stopped him.
I think Kastidis was more hurt after that one punch than Earl was ever... just Earl was too dazed himself to really do the job. Kastidis legs was stiff untill the start of the 3rd.
No real complaints if you scored the 5th to Kastidis - just thought Earl's boxing at the start of the round was enough. Just how did McKenzie thought Earl won the 3rd was beyond me, really was.

Great fight, I dont know the percent of the ITV1 audience who also view the ITV4 "pre-show" but this is a fight that the average joe needs to see. Especially after the less than stellar main events that have been shown in majority.
What made the fight was that there was no cageyniss from either fighter. There you go mikee50

For sure, the sport needs fighters like Katsidis. And it needs fighters like him to keep winning. He provides a much needed kick up the arse.m1kee50 wrote:lets face it tho -- we want to see those fighters dont we? thats why we like this stuff, for the action, not the cageynissSticknMove wrote:What a great fight.

I dunno guys, Earl even after the announcement looked very very tired and unsteady - Most importantly his balance was shot to pieces.
Those were some hard shots going in from Katsidis, and it wasn't difficult for him to find the target - I'm glad they pulled him out to be honest.
On a side note:
It makes the Khan roadshow even more of a mockery imo - Can anyone else see Khan taking those types of punches that were getting thrown in that ring tonight?
No, me either.
Anyway, Khans up now, so lets have a laugh at the bullshit that gets spouted.

i feel thats a bit strong, obv it affected him, but to say he was gone... i dont think so, but its all subjective. Both of them were throwing big shots, and Earl could have been pulled out by vann at several points, vann had a close eye on him. Earl started 5th well, but katsidis took over and it was busines as usual.stujones wrote:Kastidis was GONE in the second, M1kee50 - think had that happend in a round were Earl was a bit clearer himself he might have stopped him.

EDIT: oh and if only Earl was clearer-headed..... if only my aunty had bollx, she'd be me uncle.
