Stone vs Takaloo
this would be a great match up, i see takaloo out boxing stone then stone catches takaloo and stone forces the tko, its a shame this fight will never happen,

Stone for me, the guy is geniune world class. Two of his defeats have come against two of the finest P4P. He gave Forrest some problems.
His chin is a question mark for me, but he's gotto much skill even for the hard hitting Takaloo.
Stone by UD or late stoppage.
Stone is really a Welterweight mind, although I think he can beat Santos.

Takaloo has the power to trouble Stone, but seems to be a Danny Williams type fighter, in that he looks great in the gym but doesn't always reproduce it in the ring. Stone is far more consistent, but has a tough fight coming up against Sergio Martinez, the man who shocked Richard Williams at Manchester in June. If Stone gets past Martinez, a fight with Takaloo would be a real attraction. Sadly, as Real Deal says, it'll probably never happen. The awful thing about all these meaningless 'world' titles today, is that the likes of Takaloo and Richard Williams can win a WBU or IBO crown, defend it against handpicked opponents, and avoid each other. Ten years ago, they would have met for the British title.
Yeah true, and the fact that they are with Rival promoters.bennie wrote:Takaloo has the power to trouble Stone, but seems to be a Danny Williams type fighter, in that he looks great in the gym but doesn't always reproduce it in the ring. However, if Stone does beat that Martinez guy, thats sets up a fight with Richard Williams, which would be great to see. But i'd pick Richard to win that aslong as he's in top condition (which he clearly wasn't in his last fight).
Stone certainly has the world class pedigree but i believe he has seen better days, he lookd shaky in his come back fight and can aspire no higher than British level. However his return is a welcome one and it spices up Light Middleweight, i feel Takaloo would have too much power for his suspect whiskers and KO him around 8 or 9, Williams-Stone is an intriguing prospect and i feel that pre-Martinez Williams would win. But now i see a guy exposed and give Stone the edge, entertaining none the less.
good post. I dont think Williams was exposed, he clearly wasn't in top shape, i dunno if it was that 'mystery virus' that everyone talks about, or something else, but something was up, he got tired to quickly. He showed great stamina in the Samuels rematch, so why did it go all of a sudden? Also he didn't look as confident as he normally is, dunno why.steve689 wrote:Stone certainly has the world class pedigree but i believe he has seen better days, he lookd shaky in his come back fight and can aspire no higher than British level. But you are dead right about Stone not being to impressive and his best days are behind him. I think Martinez beats him as well.
Light Middleweight was so exciting 18 months or so ago and how badly the division folded, Richard Williams loss to martinez was the final nail in the coffin after having Farnell, Takaloo, Lockett, Roberts etc seemingly find there levels. I felt let down by Williams especially after his impressive win over Samuels in the rematch and beating the tough Russian Andre Pestraev (who had virtually beaten Steve Roberts into retirement) he looked the business. Wayne Alexander has since moved up as has Gary lockett and as for Farnell well...i always suspected he was a fake. He trains hard but he is technically limited and Wayne Elcock boxed his had off, sorry for going off topic! I tend to ramble on now and again, you only have to see my post numbers to know that
Re: Stone vs Takaloo
I actually see it totally the other way round, with Stone outboxing the clumsy and sometimes amateurish Takaloo before the Margate man's superior strength and perhaps youth come into play and he catches up with Stone around the10th round.REAL_DEAL wrote:this would be a great match up, i see takaloo out boxing stone then stone catches takaloo and stone forces the tko, its a shame this fight will never happen,

A little birdy told me that it was a case of cold Stone out when they sparred a few years back. Tak flattened him.
I know sparring's different, but to know you're going in against someone who cold cocked you would be a hard thing to do and the mental edge definitely would like with Tak if this is true.
Adrian was a world-class welter but I think Takaloo would take care of him quite quickly. A short but explosive affair with Tak winning in two or three rounds. Obviously he'd have to watch out for Adrian's power himself but he's naturally bigger and Stone looked vulnerable in his last fight if you ask me. Very unsteady when he got clipped in the first round.

Yes i agree with this take on the fight although this scenario may occur even earlier than the tenth, depends how prepared Stone is for the fight.Goz wrote:I actually see it totally the other way round, with Stone outboxing the clumsy and sometimes amateurish Takaloo before the Margate man's superior strength and perhaps youth come into play and he catches up with Stone around the10th round.REAL_DEAL wrote:this would be a great match up, i see takaloo out boxing stone then stone catches takaloo and stone forces the tko, its a shame this fight will never happen,
