WILL THESE BRITISH HEAVIES EVER COME BACK..?
With Gammer of all people suddenly holding the coveted British belt and Sprott of all people bumping off Audley, and with former top dog Williams seemingly shot, is it time for any of these guys to dust themselves off, start knocking themselves back into shape & try get some fights..?
Harry Senior
(holds a kayo over Sprott, good angle for a payday)
Michael Holden
(ex-British champ, better or worse than Gammer?)
Pele Reid
(a rematch with Sprott would be entertaining, could he kayo Gammer?)
Mark Potter
(has a name to trade off)
Keith Long
(see above.. what happened to Keith?!)
Scott Welch
(long shot i know... but how about one last run?)
Anyone know why any of these guys vamoosed?

Na i think he used to drive cars on the set of Coronation Street or something similar. Never heard anything of him being a police man.Terence wrote:I think Holden was a copper wasn't he? Or maybe I got it mixed-up. Something along those lines I think.overhand_right wrote:Terrence, do you know what Holden and Murray do outside of boxing to make a living? I assume they need day jobs.

Hi, The Long vs. Kenna fight is to go ahead at what seems the 10th attempt on Sunday!
In the paper last week, it was announced that if Kenna won, he would meet McDermott for the Southern Area title.
2 fights I don't want to see.
Steve Ede tops the bill on Sunday for the vacant British Masters Super Middleweight title.

Scott Welch owned an old people home (not sure if he still does), and was in property. So didn't need boxing for the money.Slapsie Maxie wrote:Didn't Scott W make a packet from property?
Seems an easier way to make a packet than plodding around the ring not throwing punches

He turned down a substantial offer from Warren in 2000 to bring him back.
Scott also took part in a charity trek in 2003 which involved walking across Britain, cycling to Spain and then rowing to Africa.
He's also a coach at Hove Amateur Boxing Club , which is quite highly rated.

Wasn't he into his antiques aswell? Anyway he can't be short of a few quid and doubt that he needs to box for financial reasons.topper123 wrote:Scott Welch owned an old people home (not sure if he still does), and was in property. Keith Long is the biggest waste of space
look for David Dolan if he can somehow learn to punch his weight
didnt see Chisora's debut on the sprott undercard...but hes big
Ian Millarvie is making slow progress....i kno he was injured but jeez
Mark Krence would currently be british champion if he had somehow managed to punch harder than a lt middlweight.
Despite the thread ...and its suggestion that a load of old bums might still give Gammer a run for his money... id like to suggest that the Welshman is (like Sprott) unknown and therefore (especially if your american ) underated.
Theres not telling which Danny Williams will turn up but he'll need some real fire to beat Scot Gammer

Good trade stuff like carpentry and plumbing etc in this day and age of men working in front of computers. Can charge owt from what i hear. Keith probably makes more off his job than taking blows to the head in a half empty York Hall and getting some chump change for his troubles.steve689 wrote: Talking about ay jobs i remember hearing Keith Long was a very good carpenter.

Pele is promoted by Ken Purchase and trained by Richie Woodhall at the 'Team Ringside' gym in Aston.
He was due to fight in Aston on Friday but his opponent, Belarus' Roman Suchroterin, who has extended Henry Akinwande amongst others, didnt get on the plane.
However, he will fight on the undercard of Wayne Elcock's fight at the ICC on March 17, and then they are looking at someone like Colin Kenna, Scott Lansdowne for September.
He told me about the time he fought Julius Francis, saying that all the one-round blow outs meant he hadnt really took a solid punch to the head (the Ingles, as everyone knows, dont have head sparring). The first time Francis caught him he was all over the shop and couldnt get his head together.
