Hollow postscript to Wembley bill

Post by bennie »

Trainer Trevor Thompson was killed in an horrific motorway smash at 2am on Sunday, which left the M6 closed for six hours
The warm, genuine 65-year-old from Darwen in Lancashire was making his way back from Wembley, after watching son Gary drop a competitive four-rounder to Tommy Saunders on the big bill, when a collision occurred near Rugby. Gary was dragging his father out of the car as another vehicle ploughed into it.
The fighter escaped with only minor injuries.
Trevor's death comes just two months after Repton amateur star Gary Barker died on the M1 near Luton.

Cannot say I am familiar, but still terrible news. I really feel for Gary especially. I know someone who went through a similar ordeal - still not over it years later.

Apparently Gary is still in hospital? I hope he is ok, and my condolences to all those affected.

Echo the sentiments written above, terrible for the young lad to go through this. R.I.P. Trevor Thompson.

It's bad news at any time, but coming after such a great night makes it all the worse.

My heart goes out to Gary, it just sounds horrifying.
