‘A gunman who went on a shooting spree just weeks after being convicted of a violent race attack has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 15 years.
Former boxer John Laidlaw, 24, said he was going to "kill all black people" after being arrested for an attack on a motorist.’
Am I the only one who is pissed off with the media negatively associating boxing with this unhinged screwball? Where’s the neccessity in linking a guy to boxing when he may have only had a few rounds as an amateur? Afterall when do the media make the same connections between other similar nutters and the fact that they kicked a football about on a Sunday for their local pub team?

Hmm, not sure whether I agree or not. Perhaps they were trying to indicate the fact that he was a bit tasty as it were. Depends how recently he was a boxer, I mean, if he boxed 4 years ago and has since been a plumbers mate, then it's not relevant at all and shouldn't have been mentioned.
Has to be said, the guy is a prize pudendum, it makes me shudder to think there are people like that walking the streets, I mean, what he did was pretty much random violence, some poor geezer just bumps into him accidentally and he shoots him in the back. What a frucking coward!

The papers list anyone who has entered a boxing gym at some stage in their life as a former amateur boxer.
Wayne Rooney is a classic example.
He may have trained at a club, but he never fought a single round as an amateur, yet he is often listed as an ex-fighter in the two bob red tops.
I have never heard of this nutter before, neither have my 'boxing' friends.
By the looks of it,no one here has either!
