Danny Williams career?

IMO he has under achieved if he stayed fit about 17stone he would have been at least euro champ. I know he lost to Sam , but Sam went 12 round with Mirovic a fit Williams would have beat him. I am glad he won tonight so if does retirre its on a high

He always seems to lack confidence in himself. He is a naturally strong fighter with a big punch, he just switches off in fights when if he went for it (like he did in the 9th against Gammer) he probably would have less losses on his record. Even after beating Gammer he didn't looked bothered or even happy, strange.

His weight was always a concern for me, he looked good last night. The 19-20 stone region he was fighting at before was way too big, it just drained his stamina.

I think if he got his head right, had more confidence in himself and fought at the weight he did last night he could be a handful for many of the heavyweights out there.

Why he insisted on coming into the ring weighing more than a brontosaurus for the last 3-4 years, I just don't know!

He would have achieved a bit more had he kept himself in proper shape.

anyone have any pics of how danny looked at 16st 4? he himself said he thought he was nearer 19st when he was training, maybe there was an anomaly with the scales after all..

I haven't a pic yet, but he looked a lot trimmer - his head looked a lot smaller, no longer round chubby cheeks. His shoulders looked much smaller and he just looked so much more athletic.

He could still burn a few pounds of the belly if he wants - calls of a 6 pack was a bit exaggerated. But he's never had one, even when he was this weight previously. He looked in much better shape, lot ripped like David Haye but how he looked 10 years ago.

Pretty even fight for most of it then Gammer went ahead on points - Danny then came out for the 9th I think, determined to end the fight and did - A good fight and Danny showed without the excess weight he is still a HW to be reckoned with - Based on recent performances I thought he should retire win or lose but I am not so sure now - From the back you could see he now has a wasteline which he didnt have before - He was quick on his feet, gave and took good punches - No, the scales were not faulty and Danny looked great - It was a fight I wasnt looking forward to seeing but it turned out to be one of the best I have seen Danny in for a long while - He said after the fight he needed to look at the tape and have a few days to decide whether to carry on - It seems he wasnt pleased with his performance because it took longer than he had hoped to nail Gammer - From our perspective Danny got the win, regained the belt, and finished well, so he either goes out of boxing as British title holder with a lot of respect, or carries on having got his carreer back on track, his decision - Whatever happens should he decide to carry on, he must not go much over 17 stone - He wasnt sluggish and lacking stamina he looked lively and fought to win - Very entertaining, I think he surprised a lot of people.

i think 17 stone is ideal for danny, would like to see him nail a few more shoulder presses and keep the waistline but put 3/4 stone back on those shoulders.

I just don't think Danny's in love with boxing like world champions like Lewis are. He likes his home comforts and has got by on natural talent and strength.

There's no doubting his courage or how hard he trains once he's in the gym, but I don't think he's ever had it in him to go that extra yard and make the step up.

Best thing Danny could have done was to join Lewis for a training camp, and I believe he had the opportunity to do so.

Still, he's had a very good career because after he got beat by Julius Francis and then Samil Sam you wouldn't have thought he'd have ended up beating Tyson (however shot) and fighting Klitschko in Vegas for the title.

Bad choices of fights too. I mean, he beat Skelton the first time and should have told him to stuff the rematch – likewise the rematch with Harrison. Both times he won the first time but had the attitude that he had something to prove in the rematches when he should have been looking past them.

The second fight against Harrison was just embarrassing – I don't know what Danny was doing in there with just a week's notice. Stupid.

Shame Danny wasn't that bit better because you couldn't think of a nicer guy to have as heavyweight champion.

Weird, he doesn't really look that much different to me. The main difference seems to be a loss of muscle if anything. I suspect that Danny was really bulking up with weights and protein drinks beforehand. He still has quite a bit round the midriff in those pictures, though certainly not anywhere near as much as before.

He did well to beat Gammer. Gammer doesn't like it when he's hit back, but he has some superb combination puching.

the official scales were fine i am sure, must remember Gammer weighed in heavier than Danny, so if Danny claims he was 19stone, Gammer was 20 stone which is obviously silly

Danny looks in a lot better condition, the reduction in body fat on his shoulders and arms is obvious.
He probably also carried a lot of extra weight on his legs and ass which thankfully we didnt see

He is still very different to the 16 1/2 stone Danny of 1995 :-) His arms are miles bigger for start....
