Derry Matthews vs John Simpson

Post by black panther »

This looks to be a good scrap on saturday night but i've been mightily impressed with matthews since his pro debut. Although Matthews isn't a massive puncher he hits with authority and I have a feeling he might be the first to stop simpson - might have a dig at the matthews inside at 5/1. I was wondering - is this fight for the british title held by simpson or the "prestigious" WBU belt held matthews? If for the latter i'm surprised simpson would give up the british belt but i suppose money talks.

I don't think Simpson has to give up the British Title, even if he wins I think he can just dump the WBU Title and keep the British.

in the liverpool echo it was billed as matthews `first defence of his wbu title` with no mention of simpson having to put his british title on the line.

Matthews is very talented and the most promising Liverpool fighter at the moment IMO. Closely followed by Paul Smith.

Where did you get them odds from? Might do it myself. :TU:

Not seen Smith fight outside of ITV highlights but do hear he's a good prospect to watch out for. :TU:

Hard on Simpson after finally getting a British title fight. Cannot see him doing Matthews - I don't think he cuts.
