Don't believe the hype. Mitchell? A puncher? HA!! I love how ITV thinks if they keep repeating this it will somehow come true.
I have never ever seen worse opposition for a supposed prospect than what Mitchell has faced. Its been totally horrible.
Mitchell is going down the first time he faces someone decent with a dig. I guarantee it. Carl Johannsen would shit on him.

Johanneson would just have too much, no way in hell will Mitchell go anywhere near Johanneson, Mitchell is an IBF Intercontinental job all the way. He is only going the Commonwealth route because there is no decent challengers available, do you think he would be fighting this route if Munyai or someone similar was knocking on the door?? Would he bollocks.
He hasn't fought anyone who hits back yet and he is in 20 odd fights. Johanneson's body shots and controlled pressure would give him fits.

With Mitchell what you see is what you get. He is a stiff puncher who wants 'to have it'. That unfortunately where he is going to come undone (in world class or even fringe world class). The stiffness of punch is centred around a rigid stance and style that is completely inflexible. Guys with no punch and no ambition but with mobility give him trouble. Imagine what a fighter with mobility, lateral movement, a hurtful punch and ambition may do to him. But if the matches are made he will be in some great fights I am sure, because he a feisty little bastard that will be made for those occasions.

It should be a total no-brainer for Mitchell to face Johannesson later this year. Much hyped rising star against a solid champion. Will we see it? Will we fornicate, because if it does happen Johannesson will decimate Mitchell, and there goes Mitchell's 0. Stupid really, because Mitchell needs to fight the likes of Johannesson if he's going to learn anything.

Well Ramagoadi came in at very late notice to fill in for Harrison when Cook's fight with him fell through. It was an 8 rounder and Cook must have felt deflated: especially when you have a guy in front of you that is a slick defensive mover that has little to offer in offense. But then somehow he becomes No1. challenger for the Commonwealth title at SFW. And if you watched the fight all he did was move, cover up, duck below Mitchell's rigid legs and pop a few shots in here and there. Jouneyman challenger all the way for me with no ambition to win the fight.E wrote:Not vtotally fair - Ramagoadi went the distance with cook....SticknMove wrote:What was the fvcking point of that match. You're supposed to fight survivor jouneymen in the build up to winning titles: not defend your title against one.
I don't think Mitchell is the kind of fighter that will learn anything from these type of fights. He wants a bit of a tear up and that will be entertaining when it happens, but ultimately where his limits as a fighter will be exposed (and I dont think that those limitations will be in world class).

John Murray is not supposed to be a noted puncher but beat Harry in 4 rds in his 10th fight. Yet Kevin Defends his Commonwealth belt against him in his 23rd contest yet hardley anything said ? Also Featherwieght Choi beat Harry in quicker time then Kevin.
I Like Kevin and feel he does need to fight stiffer opposition the Russian who gave him a good fight on the Dinner show last year was what Kevin needs more of otherwise he wont know what will hit him , in against Carl Johanson.

Its annoying, because SuperFeather is quite a 'deep' division in terms of worldwide talent, but Mitchell is not cementing his rep.
Mitchell has got a raft of credible people he could fight....
British Level
Burns
Fehintola
Johanneson (Surely the Britsh Champ should be the mandatory for the Commonwealth belt?)
Euro Level
Gogoladze
Alex Arthur
Kirakosyan
(Id even say Shadi Hamsho at the outside)
World level needs absolutely no explanation, but can anyone see him in with Pacman, MAB, Juarez, Valero, Guzman etc etc?
IMO, he needs to at least fight and beat Alex Arthur before he steps up to 'world' level (by which i mean the big four). In the ideal world he would take on Johanneson, but I think we all know he will lose that....
((((Johanneson has lost twice, to Kirakosyan (now Euro champ) and Gogoladze (WBO NABA champ)))))

Mitchell fights like he has a big wallop...a cavalier way of taking a few but fully expecting the opponent to fall once they taste his.
Against the opposition he`s been put up against so far this has mostly happened.
But he isn`t a real big banger, and soon the oposition will not only be able to absorb his best punches but they`ll be bouncing bigger right handers off him...his chin looks sound so far...but that will only hold up so long...he needs a much tighter defence.
